If you were only going to master one or the other, which would you choose? I plan on combining the two but won't be able to master both.

The most powerful pistol combo is going up the dirty fighting tree with smuggler, and mastering pistoleer.

You get the speed of pistoleer and the power/attacks of rogue.

Dodge and Damage Mitigation in Master Pistoleer would be good. But you can do a lot more with Smuggler.

You really should answer this for yourself...What kind of character do you want to be? A pistoleer, who shoots stuff and does missions? Or a smuggler, with slicing skills, faction point trading, spice crafting, etc...Both classes are broken, but the smuggler offers a lot more diversity.

If you just want to PVP well, and like pistols, get master pistoleer, and dirty fighting line.

Think

Thats what I thought but wanted it confirmed.

I will likely master pistoleer, and do dirty fighting/slicing inthe smuggler tree.

Thanks for the advice.

One thing not every one knows is that if you only get slicing 4 then you are not as good a slicer as a master smuggler. Master smugglers get a 5% bonus to slicing.

this means that a slicer 4 can slice a weaponfrom 10 to 30% where as a master smuggler can slice it from 15 to 35%.

Just a FYI. Personally I thing Master Pistoleer - Master Smuggler is one of the best combos in the game but then im a little biased.

I will have to agree with SanTsu on this one. Master smuggler Master pistoleer is the stuff. Spent about 5 months like that and decided a couple of weeks ago to give the holo stuff a try. Regreted it ever since. Finnishing ranger holo then headed back to what i really like Smuggler/Pistoleer.

Paranoia is a very comforting state of mind. If you think they're out to get you, it means you think you matter.

Thats good to hear cos i'm goin for this combo at the moment.

Can just ask though, which out of the dirty fighting specials is the best? I heard Feign Death is useless now.

The smuggler forum is probably a better place for this but since you asked.

All three smuggler pistol specials rock

Panicshot is a ranged 10 second delay shot

Low Blow is a ranged knockdown.

Last Ditch is the the highestdamage pistol shot in the game although if you add up all the damage you can do with fanshot it might beat it depending on how many mobs your damaging each shot.

Fiegn Death is not useless. What they have done ismade mobs remember you when you get up so its alot harder to kill uber mobs like krayt dragons solo but you can still useit to get out of being incaped and healup while your down.

The thing about smuggler moves is they arent all that great without pistol mods becuase even the best shot isnt any good if it misses.

ditto man, i was working toward master smuggler (and im master pistoleer) and the extra specials are just superb, delay shot is stunning man, comes in so handy if either u or a pal are being aggroed by a 100k+ ham critter, they are in trouble, u run in, lay the delay and u got 10 secs to bail. very sweet. feign is ok, and useful if ur about to get incapped, although i usually forget about it and try and put in that last bit of dmg and get wasted heh.

i was so happy slicing and haveing some awesome pistols shots etc etc, then i started on the holo cr\aze, what did i get for my first????? - Image Designer lol!!!!!!!!!!, ok i thought, wont be long, ill pop it out in no time, and i did, took me 1 1/2 days. opened next holo and to my surprise, ............................i got musician (plz, dont laugh, i get riddled every day by guild members heh). and tbh, this whole holo business is killing the game for me.
when i was smuggler/pistoleer i used to crave the moment i switched on the game, now after being stuck in the cantina grinding for hours over the xmas period i just cant be bothered.....

lol anyway master smug and master pistoleer is an awesome combo, and i cant wait to go back to it asap

Smuggler is the key to beating a Rifleman

What are the 2ndary professions that you are going?

That might make the decision easier, since you have more then enough points left over after Master Smugger / Master Pistoleer

Pistoleer:

29 Points of Marksman

63 Points to Master

92 Total

Smuggler:

29 Points of Brawler

63 Points to Master

92 points

Total 184 - 66 Points left, so you can Master TKA, get some scout, medic, etc...

Rake Odimo / Phov Odimo

- Tarquinas / Mistmoore
Yeah I play EQ2, but I still <3 Tarquinas..
- You can too!
PS This is Old School Rake from now on
