My DX2 range mods are very poor. What do I tell a WS to do to get me a better hitting DX2? I am not concerned about the damage as much as I am the accuracy.

Thanks

Actually ask the weaponsmith to build your DX2 with an advanced scope. This will help greatly with the accuracy, but will cost you a bit more HAM.

A good compromise is a 0/0/0 HAM standard scope. You still get +10 accuracy and about +2% wound without killing yourself with an increased HAM cost. Just have the Weaponsmith experiment in Effeciency until 0/0/0 is reached then have him throw his remaining experimentation pts into Damage.

If you are concerned with more accuracey haveing a standard scope with as many expierment points into range would be better, and in the final assambly split between range and damage. I have made some really decent dmg, accurate DX2's this way.

The main problem with crafting DX-2 pistols is that the schematic isprobably bugged. Normally when you experiment on the range of a firearm, it will only improve the ideal range modifier. However, with the DX-2, it will improve the point blank range modifier. It is my firm belief that the values for the ideal range modifier and the point blank range modifier in the DX-2 schematic are reversed. The ideal range modifier of a weapon should always be it's highest range modifier, hence the reason for calling it the "ideal" range; if the weapon's ideal range is supposed to be at extremely short range, then the ideal range modifier should logically list a short distance, similar to the 8m ideal range on the DL-44.

As it stands now, it's basically mandatory to install a scope on a DX-2 just to get *less* of a *penalty* to the ideal range modifier, which seems pretty illogical to me. Unfortunately, unless you want insanely high HAMs on the final version of the weapon, you have to do most of your experimentation on the HAM values of the scope, leaving little remaining to spend on the actual accuracy bonus. If only the DX-2 were bugged the same way that the Republic Blaster is bugged...

Just be glad that you're not a Pikeman... the Vibro Lance has a default -30\-30\-30 to range modifiers, and having high experimented damage does no good when you can't hit the target. The Long Vibro Axe is even more ridiculous... it has -55\-55\-55 for range modifiers. No wonder they say that Pikemen can't hit the ground with their weapons if drop them.
