Thread: The pure pistoleer.

I use the term pure meaning...I'm a pistoleer, and that's it. I don't stack skills with anything else, and I really resent the fact that I have to in order to be competant in PvP. My build is going to be Master Doctor / Master Pistoleer. Not really because I want to be uber, but because I honestly like pistols.
My question is, is there any hope for me in PvP currently? I have a 110-260 geo pistol. That's about as "uber" as I plan to be. I really hope the devs consider players like me in the combat re-vamp. You know, guys that don't stack multiple combat professions.
And yes, I admit that Master Doctor does give me a role in combat that a full combat template doesn't have. But what is the point of mastering a profession if it can't at least hold its own in PvP? PvE is fine for me, I know how to survive there....

Uhm...As of this moment, "pure" pistoleer would get you killed by anyone that asks for a duel with you on bloodfin.
"pure" pistoleer is a joke. After the combat changes and whatnot, you MIGHT have a chance, but unlikely.
At this moment pistoleer needs to be part of a template. Now, going with doc will improve your chances, but you will be using the "/heal self" command alot.

I would recommend going up smuggler 0040 which is ONLY pistol skills..which might fall into "pure" pistols still in your book

I've been a master pistoleer / master doc for some time and it wasn't great in PvP. Sure, I was able to fight any template but the problem is that I rarely killed someone... I wasn't dying and neither my opponent. I'm doing much better being master pistoleer / bh 3040. I don't really miss the ability to heal myself.

Sorry to say; but you will have a VERY hard time unless you have uber equipmenty.
I was tripple master untill a week ago and except for filthy CM's I was competitive in PVP, AND used my pistols A LOT.
Since I've dropped TKM down to novice the difference is incredible...it seems the TK defenses made a world of difference...
one of my guildies who is rifleman/fencer didn't stand a chance when I was TKM/MP/MSmug, but put's me down in under a minute now. 
Another guildie is master droid engineer/M Pistoleer w/ dirty fighting, and is competitivein PVP, but only due to his experience (playing since august) and uber equipment (90% base armor and PSG, all loot enhanced weapons, heavy DOT pistols etc....)
IMO you should at least pick up novice brawler for intimidate...intimidating your oponent makes a world of difference (and do not forget to cure intimidate ASAP when they stick it on you)

I'm with you, even whenI could heal myself it just used up my valuble mind..I dont miss healing myself one bit... I'd rather get plenty of db's.
