Thread: New NPC Combat changes, Using Pistol Specials???

So I'm wondering about the change to NPC using weapons switching and special abilities. I think its a good thing in general and welcome it, as a stand alone change/fix. But as we all know, a stand alone pistoleer is already weak in both PvE and PvP. I have heard of NPC like Tusken using flurryshot and strafeshot. Which means the NPC are using playe profession specials. Has anyone seen a NPC use one of our specials? Are they "properly" using ones that are broken for us?

It kind of ticked me off actually to see this change go into the game, when our combat profession is sooo broken. Forget about balanaced, we are just plain broken. This change at this time of how messed up some combat professions are, is bad, and is going to make it even more unbalaned.

What are the pistoleers thoughts? I tell you, I'm considering switching to rifles, being master ranger and not dropping that, I'm just getting sick and tired of pistols being broken. It will take a me long time to work up rifles, but oh well. I was getting tired of pistoleers problems before, and I love it, but a month or two ago I figured I would wait for some of the CB to come in before dropping it. Give them a chance. Well that is postponed indefinately. And since they said they would fix us in the CB, where does that leave us getting fixed? When?

I haven't noticed which specials they've been using really... But, I did notice them using squad leader commands?! Haha. I think it's awesome. It not only makes things more of a challenge, but also more immersive. I know what you mean about the frustration of our own profession's problems though. I agree with you 100%.

I'm with you on this one. It's sad to get hopes up, and then hear that nothing is going to be done till much later down the road.

Hopefully they will get a few quick fixes in to at least get our stuff working. Forget about balancing, the game is not, so just fix our stuff and till everything is balanced sometime next year.

I am already en route to rifleman while dropping pistoleer.

I like the state defenses and accuracy, but I just cant deal out the damage I am up against from the other end... all those state defenses and dodge/etc doesn't help when you go up against someone that takes out your 2500 mind in about 5-10 seconds while you are barely scratching them.

sure it will change my play style, I -like- pistols, but it just isn't worth it if I want to be competitive.

It is truely sad the state of pistoleer. I still can't believe it has gone so long so broken. I tried out pointblankarea2 and confirmed formyself it's no longer doing multiple targets. It did in my time.

I am actually considering going rifles, just to be able to truely hunt. Being a Master ranger, I just can't compete as a solo hunter nearly as well ANY other combat profession. I'm sorry, but I actually do pretty good in PvE with pistols in it's current state. I imagine if we got fixed(again not even balanced) I would do much much better then I do now. Even PvP we would be more competetive if we got fixed. Still under balanced, but I just want to be fixed.

I'm not sure, as my internet still isn't up and running in my new apartment. It sounds more exciting, but problematic if NPCs are running around 1-shotting players who opt out of wearing armor, as they were before when they were using specials some months ago.

Seeing if they use Pistoleer specials correctly (unbugged, where ours are bugged) sounds interesting. I'll have to keep my eye open.

I been fanshoted by a rebel medic for 1200 damage, and one shot incapped with stopping shot by another the last few days. They most definitely do use pistol specials.

I should be safe, then, if an enemy pulls out PointBlankArea2.

Well I guess this is a step in the right direction for balance. In my view, it's better if it's possible for any creature to be like fighting another player. (For example in the AD&D system, everyone is 'equal', there are even rules for playing as monsters.) I guess it just makes it feel fairer knowing they are capable of the same things we are....now we just need access to 'medium' armor like those wraiths have

Oh, our only two working specials. I guess the NPC know that as well. LOL But it's currious that you got one shot incapped from stoppingshot. Because that is exactly how it is described to work. Does so much damage it one shot kills. I know our HAM's are much lower than an equal level NPC or Creature, but it's totally fubar that they can oneshot kill us with the same special that would we would not be able oneshot kill them with.

Basically that tells me that they are using specials better then we are. Not exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for things like PMD2 KD us, or disarmingshot actually unequiping our pistols, but having more effective results then us from the same special is about the same thing. IMHO.
