Thread: pistoleer and high end content

Hello pistol people,
I am an aspiring pistoleer, currently BH 0040, smuggler 0120, Pistoleer 0143, medic 0000. My friends have recently restarted their DWB runs, and I've been given the impression that pistols aren't really good for tougher critters, like DWB, krayts, NS etc...
I originally was going to be BH to kill jebi, but I found pistols quite fun in PvE, so far in places like Fort Tusken etc. But, am I missing out on the game by sticking with just pistols? Is adding commando 0000 worth it? Is MP worth it to get the DE10? So far I really like my scatter, and I'll geo when a mob has acid resists, or modified republic. However, will I ever be effective in PvP? Don't say "Combat Upgrade" I'll believe that when I see it

.If I scrap commando 0000, MP, and last ditch, I can keep novice medic. Which is better? Full pistols, or ability to heal?
Pistols are expensive, should I be pupping them?

Basically you are going to find it pretty much impossible to take on any high end creatures solo with pistols - max Armour piercing we have is AP1 and most of the high end creatures have heavey armour and 200k plus HAM. You can certainly assist a group though as the bleeds will still stick on heavy armour and so will torso shot - and you still do some damage.
With regards PVP however as Composite armour is light, you can still do fairly good damage with AP1 pistols, and a Geo if they dont have stun armour and a stun PSG.
All you will get from Novice Commando is the Laucher Pistol certification which is good as it does Blast Damage which is very handy as no other pistol does - shame its not AP though.
I had to drop novice medic to finish my template, in sig below - I must admit I dont really miss it at all. I can always feign death if I am getting really hammered but I rarely have to do that in PVE.
I can solo a lot of the Medium creature in the game so still have a lot of fun (Rancors, NS Rangers, Singing Clan Huntress's, Kimo's - I took my first AT-ST out the other day which was fun, no offence to any Imps)
If you are going to do pistols then I would recommend going all the way - ditch medic and just FD if you have to.

If your looking to do some overall well damage to high end mobs I'd pick up the flame thrower row in commando. Stacking up all your burns can do some pretty good damage. If you do alot of Dwb then you could get the llc row. Personally id pick up the flamer and drop smuggler.Another Template you could think of going is 0040commando, 0043 pistols, master tka, and medic 0040. Its a solid pve and decent pvp template.

How I deal with High end content as a pistoleer/smuggler/bounty hunter:
1. Torso shot the creature until you get a burn on it.
2. Then feign death till the burn wears off.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until the MOB dies.
Hey its cheap and you don't do most of the work, but it works

it takes FOREVER..... but it's sometimes the only way we can take on mobs this high lol

thats why i did swordsman to pwn...and now doing pistoleer to look cool

well i'm not sure lying on your back is gonna "look cool", but whacking someone in the head with a de-10 and knocking them over never gets old

Okay to make it short and sweet, Pistoleers don't do high end PvE. First of all no weapon higher than Ap1.And Most hard creatures/ NPC's have heavy armor. If I remeber correctly that gives us a -50% of damage plus resists. In my experience I havent been able to solo thing like Elders, Krayts and so on. Altough you could be a support to say a swordsman,rifleman, etc. But If you dont have the BH line than you are a sitting duck just siting they with your pea shooter

I took down a Kimo all by myself with just a Republic Blaster and a crate of power-ups...
Of course... it spawned near and Imp Base...
And I let many Stormies take the damage... while I just stood back and shot at it.
Took forever... but I got a nice chunk o' XP.
Funny thing... I'm a Reb. I've got some screen caps of me standing next to a squad of Stormies... and they're not shooting at me!

i'm an imperial and i was on dathomir poking some mutants for samples and then the whole lot of em comes after me
as i'm burst-running away, i run through a group of lost rebels who promptly attacked the rancors
it was great, i got so much meat and xp that day... then i got a lot of faction

Haven't tried, but I'm guessing as long as it takes to conceal shot it.
Which is about 15-20 minutes
