Thread: Question For My Fellow Pistoleers...

Hello gang! I don't post on this board as much as I should but, I have a few questions maybe you guys can help me out with. I've been rocking pistoleer for a long long time. In the recent months I picked up Bounty Hunter and I'm quite happy with having Bounty Pistols. However I was disappointed with the Light Lightening Cannon tree and never even touched Carbine's. So I dropped all Bounty aside from BHPistols 4.

I'm debating on another template change so I'd be interested in the input I get from here, as pistols are my love and weapon of choice. My current template is as follows:

Master Pistoleer
BH Pistols 4
Master Marksmen (duh)
Unarmed4
TK 0021 (I think that's right)
Force Sensitive (The Defenses to Melee and Ranged Mod Trees and Novice Combat Prowess)

I picked up the TK in hopes to add to the Defense Versus mods I already have with Pistoleer and to try and at least get some kinda defense to melee. Of late however I'm debating if I should just bite the bullet Master Bounty Hunter and be able to pick up some medic skills. I'm a Zabrak so equilibrium saves my butt more often than not even without Medic. I've come to pride myself on being at least semi effective without the ability to heal.
Now that being said of late I really just don't see where the TK is helping me all that much. Though it very well may be and I dont want to make a mistake dropping it and have to regrind unarmed. I dig being able to warcry and intimidate for sure though.

So what would any of you suggest? I fell into the trap of trying to dabble in melee for added defenses but I'd like to be a pure ranged Template. What I'm thinking is Master Pistoleer/MasterBH/and dump the rest in medic maybe keeping novice brawler for warcry and intimidate. Again any input will do....

In your situation, the debate in my mind would be whether to transfer my TKA skills to the Meditate tree, or use all those Unarmed points to put into Medic.

Frankly, Master Bounty Hunter doesn't do much for you. Fast Blast (pistol attack) does x6 damage, but that damage is evenly distributed between all HAM stats, kinda like a Carbineer's WildShot. The Carbineer specials from BH are very nice, if you take Carbineer to get the rest of the speed and accuracy, but on their own, they're not as good as your Pistols, imo, and again, the Spray Shot isn't all that great. Unless you want to be a BH and want to devote your gaming to hunting people down and all that, I'd personally recommend keeping M.Pistols and BH Pistols, and take 4040 (or 2040) Medic. 2040 will leave you with 27 skill points you can put into something else (won't be enough for TKA tho), although you could take M.Pistoleer, BH 3440, and Medic 2040, which would be a good PvP temp for your Pistols, give you some great dealing abilities, ability to take some Jedi missions and a few very nice Carbineer specials (two ranged KD moves [including a ranged KD/Dizzy], and a "state" special that will let you stick Blind, Dizzy and Stun).

So one recommendation would be:

M.Pistoleer

BH 3440

Medic 2040

Dang, now that I've thought of it, I might take it meself!

Carbines are an expensive investment, and unless you're buffed they'll kill your HAM. But if you're using the Carbine tree for sticking some states and catching a target as it's running away by KDing it, it could be worth it.

But, if you're against the Carbineer, hunting Jedi thing, then save those SPs and put them into more Medic, or take some more scout.

Another suggestion would be:

BH Pistols IV

M.Pistoleer

Medic 4440

or

BH 3040

M.Pistoleer

Medic 2040

Scout 4040

That'll let you take Jedi missions (if that's something you're interested in, again), and harvest creature resources more efficiently, and earn yourself more money that way. People pay great cash for uber spawns of Dath avian meat.

Basically, unless you want to be the best BH you can be, Master BH isn't worth it for the Pistoleer special. The mods you get for Droid Tracking and all that are good, and help in that regard, but are of no use to a Pistoleer directly.

Edit: Expanded and clarified.

I completely agree with Ren here. That is almost my exact template (with 3040 medic on mine). I put my remaining points into the Scout Hunting line (for the big creature resource payoffs that Ren referred to) and FS skills, and I love this template and have a lot of fun with it. The medic skills have saved me from certain death countless times and I will never give those up (one click = instant 100% health and action!). If I could change one thing about my template, it would be topick up the Smuggler pistols line, but with the brawler prerequisiteI'd have to give up too much to do that, and am happy where I am.

Smuggler is nice, esp Feign Death. But I'd rather be able to heal up and keep fighting than cheap out and get Mind-fired to death.

fencer would probably be better than TKA as then you can stack dodge on top of youre pistoller dodge which is quite and evil combo now i think about it. hmmmm, might try that... (wanders off muttering)

If you're going to stack defenses from Fencer, you're better off with stacking the Fencer tree that gives you Def vs. KD and Def vs. PD (Footwork). You're not going to avoid getting hit in PvP, but you have a much better chance of avoiding being knocked down with this stacking and some thak.
