Thread: wpn choice plz
As i understand it as well, the DX2 has AC piercing of 1, while every other pistol has it at 0. So, besides the fact that it has acid shot, which most dont have good defense against, the AC factor is huge, damage-wise.
So even though it looks at first like the DX2 does less damage than a scout blaster by its min/max, you must factor in the higher AC, which essentially makes its damage *1.5 against creatures of AC 0.
Can anyone else verify this, I might be completely off.
thanks
That may be fine and dandy Quinya(s/p) but try fighting some tough stuff with heat resistance.
Peace,

AC stands for Armor Class. Every creature in the game has an AC rating, 0-3 (i think thats the highest? could go higher though). Every weapon as well has an AC piercing rating... from what i've heard (and once again i could be wrong) all pistols have AC piercing of 0, except the DX2 which has AC piercing of 1. What does this mean? Well if you have a creature that has AC =0. and your weapon has AC piercing of 0, then it does normal damage. If creature has AC=0, and your weapons piercing is 1, then you actually do 1.5 times more damage. And it goes on... if creature has AC=0, and your weapon has AC=2 (Tuskan rifle i think might... not sure offhand) then i think your damage is around 2.25 more than normal. Anyways, you get the picture.
Where this really is important is when you're fighting some tough guys, and they have a high AC and your pistols AC is 0. You actually do LESS than the advertised damage in your min/max.
Which is the reason why the DX2 certification is so high up the ladder. AC =1 and it does acid damage. Rumor has it that the Devs might be putting this info for weapons in Test Center shortly so that someday maybe we can all see what a weapon's AC piercing is just by examing it.
Once again, someone that has more knowledge on the matter, please correct my mistakes.
thanks
AR rating isn't widely known except for what's in the strategy guide, and who knows what's changed since it's printing. AR might have even been removed (?). I'll be testing damage this week on another player in duels (for testing), and will hopefully see some signs of AR. In theory, if you use a weapon with AR0 on armor that has resistance to that damage type, in addition to the resistance % damage reduction, it could also lose 50% damage due to difference in AR (AR 1 armor vs AR 0 attack).
DX2 was listed as AR0, but again, that's just from the guide (who knows if AR is correct or even implemented). Why isn't it listed on the weapon stats? Just not sure.
sr combat has ap1 as well as dx2
but dx2 has better average damage i believe. Really depends on the smith who makes it.
Lads, i was able to get my hands on a DX2 last night, and perform a bit of testing. What i can say is the DX2 performs very well!
When first looking at it, it seemed to have worse stats than my scout (70-104, spd 3.2 dx2), (same dam, spd 1.9 scout)
But from my testing the DX2 did consistently more damage againstall mobs i tested against (both armored and un-armored)
Several mobs a tested against didn't have any resistance at all, so the acid attack type doesn't seem to be the cause.
The only thing i can think of is the AR of the weapon, i am guessing a DX2 must have an AR above a scout, thus why it looks to have worse stats, but actually does more damage.

Flurry
nm, I picked up two fwg5 pistols tonight and they are sick.
dmg 47-218...wound 14.08%...spd 1.7...ham cost 11/35/17...
I kill most things with healthshot2, one shot kills 'em. That's after a slice that gave .3 spd faster.
Etrex
heh... hey Flurry doesn't the DX2 sound awesome?? and green beams, very cool
I love the green bolts and it seems to make dust or whatever it is fly up alot more then the other pistols well except for the launcher pistol of the commandos that is a noise and light maker.
Its fun to be in a firefight with a large group and see your green bolts flying when everyone elsesare red.
