I have the worst luck repairing pistols. I bought a crate of 94% effective repair tools. I've tried repair pistols with only minor damage and waiting till they have dropped some. In both cases, I regularly wind up dramtically reducing the condition or breaking the pistol altogether. I've tried numerous times to ask weaponsmiths for repairs but usually getno response or they tell me that they don't have any better chance of repairing than I do.

yesterday, I bought a pre-nerf FWG5. I would really like to keep this weapon in good shape.

Any advice on making repairs successfully is appreciated.

Your best bet is to repair it when it's still above the 50% condition. Lower than that and it may be too late.

One of the past patches said that crafters have a better chance to repair an item that's in their field. This was fairly new.

My Weaponsmith told me that if I repair above 50% condition, it almost always works, but if I wait until 25% it will only work some of the time. He said that it almost always fails under 25%.

I don't know if that's true, but it's what I've relied on.

Yeah, I waited too long to repair my FWG5. I forgot to repair it when I got the "It dropped below 50%" message, repaired it and BARELY did, it went from 1100/1100 down to 765/765 which was a BIG ouch when that happend. If it drops below 50%, give it to a good weaponsmith and embrace for the pain.
