So i was sitting in the cantina, healing some nice ents. for some medic points, and i start talking to this other medic........wat r building, etc...blah blah blah......so i tell him i a novice pistoleer......anyways the conversation went like this:

HE: you dont see many pistoleers any more?
ME: oh? y is that?
HE: you know, broken class and all
ME: wat? i thought they were awesom in pvp
HE: no man, commandos and BH are ruling pvp now
ME: oh well as long as i do ok on PvE I'm not going to be that angry
HE: well you wont either.....i am a pistoleer and i get pwned by mobs

is this true? I haven't played in a few months but i remember the pistoleer being a powerful class, almost toe to toe with the BH in PvP and being ultra deadly at PvE.......is wat he said true? Am i building a broken char? Are pistoleers unable to handle their own anymore?

If this is true, can you guys explain to me whats broken about the class? like specials and comparisons and all? I am noob, so I'd appreciate some help

**edit**, but like wat do you mean? Should I switch professions? the commando seems ridiculuously overpowered, and i dont feel like making a BH cuz everyone in the galaxy seems to be one.....plus it just doesnt suit me.......wat are good combat classes then? i heard the TKA is still doing OK, although I heard it got broken too..........and the commando seems really cool, but is it powerful and all? thx

basically what i am asking is.......what would you do in my place? considering I haven't gotten novice pistoleer yet, wat would you do if you were me? would you go back and start working towards M. Commando or BH? I just want to make a guy who can really hold his own in combat....doesnt have to rule PvP but that rules PvE.....and does decently in PvP if i want to put him that way.....

Wel if you havent gotten novice pistoleer that would explain it. Pistol is a great newbie weapon because of its speed and few drawbacks. But because of the borked speed system, you cannot be a pure pistoleer and do well in pvp, because bh, commandos and riflemen will out damage you. I would suggest getting either BH or smuggler to complement your pistol skill.

There are a number of broken specials, some of them (like PMD1) were deliberately nerfed. Commandos, Bounty Hunters and Smugglers are more lethal in PvP than pistoleers. However, a skilled pistoleer is by no means weak. He or she is nowhere near overpowered, but can be dangerousin PvP especially when at range, and is pretty good in PvE.

Things could be better for pistoleers (and should), but they could also be a lotworse.

yea there are some broke specials but pistoll is no way weak.

Once you master with the speed and stopping shot, you can tear up pve, with fan shot you can tear up pve. Pistol melee is a kd if they get close. Youll shoot fast enough with master speed. And you can stand up to dumb/no pvp skill bh's (thats the majorty from my experience).

No its not underpowerd and you can pick up other classes, want underpowerd? Go carbineer. Not all the specials work correctly but with what does work you will be fine.

Man am I tired of hearing the Carbineers bitch about ham costs, learn to use food/spice/buffs.

At least there is a work around for your BIGGEST issue.

And the no-timer KD is far from weak, a fast snub-nose and some buffs and you have an unstoppable PvP machine. Add in nov medic for the stims and some angerian fishak or muon and you could solo just about any small to medium group of players.

I was a master pistoleer/master doc and when a certain master doc/master carbineer I know comes calling I call for back-up as fast as I can. Considering our skill-set is similar, and that I'm not exactly new to PvP, we should be closely matched and have to rely on our proff's specific areas of expertese. We aren't. He can AOE my group and just keep the healers KD'ed while he pumps rounds into the combat types. I can either keep moving to make me harder to hit, or close and hope I can KD him so we can chop him to pieces. With good armor and some stims we can be stopped cold in our tracks, how do you stop a no timer KD machine with a 3k ham?

Pistoleer by itself is not too great though fanshot and stopshot are awesome. Pistoleer is good when mixed with classes such as MCM, TKA, MCH, BH, smuggler.

I like pistoleer in pve and pvp and find it very powerful if you know what to mix it with and have an uber gun.

BH Pistoleer are very powerful as they get such a high speed they can shoot any special at 1 seconds apart.

I don't think the skill pts is worth it though as I was a BH and I would rather be able to master 3 classes than dabble.
