Thread: You know it's sad but true....

Holo madness has taken me. My proff of choice is so low on the fix list I can no longer just stick it out. I gutted my pistoleer last night. ( voice said Master Ranger)

The sad part is I droped from master to 0/0/0/1 and all I miss is the speed, and maybe Fanshot. I used to really like BS3, but after goin back to bs2 and using a good gun I can say that it is not worth the effort.

I dropped Pistoleer before I'll drop master doctor, why? Because as a Master doc/ nov pistoleer I am scarier than a master pistoleer/master medic.

And if any BH whines about time and effort to be a bh, ignore them. I went from no scout to master scout in about 20 hours of playtime, If I cared to do master marksman it would prolly only add about another 8-10 hours on to this total. ( as I recall the 4 lvl boxes can be a bit of a grind.)

I will be keeping my 0/0/0/1 as long as I can as wip is a good " don't stand so close to me" attack and I have held on to pistoleer for so long I just cant walk away.

Side note: Republic blaster cert was unaffected by the skill drop, yay.

All the good Pistoleers leave. I just hope that you'll still visit our forum from time to time, even though you've surrendered all those crappy skills.

Do you intend to come back to Pistoleer once your Ranger time is done? Re-mastering a prof could also be part of the Jedi mystery...

I'll still be a presence on this board ( I'm still a nov after all) and I will more than likely re-master at some point in time, it's just with the current stability issues in the game I can't PvP and I'm finding our one-trick pony skill set is keeping me from the high end content.

IF game stability is still an issue when I un-lock I will be back to full time doc/pistoleer. No way I'm wasting one of my lives on a system crash.

I love this proff for reasons other than our supposed "uberness", IMO there should always be a place for the pistol packin duelist in any combat type game, we are an architype(sp), there is a truth to our class that trancends min/max equations and rate of fire.

as Han said " ...but give me good blaster at my side anytime." ( or sumthin to that effect)

Well when the game first started or if your a noob who does not know how to lvl getting novice BH is alot harder than for us vet players.

I could get novice BH alot faster now than before but try surrendering all your skills and starting with no money and nothing but cdefs to lvl off and nothing better than bone armor and novice BH is quite an accomplishment.

If your master doc then anything is gonna be way easier especially getting scout and if you have a good camp macro. Try lvling camping without any macro, that's a real pain.

I went from no scout to master scout in about 20 hours of playtime,

Please tell us how you did that without exploiting.

No problem,

we can all agree that scout xp is not hard to get, harvest torturs or similar large non-social aggro critters, if they incap you twice take a 10 minute break and set up a camp. I only bother harvesting the big critters as it slows ya down slaughtering vynocks and chubas. I have a non-ch pet to tank for me and pull aggro so it's bleed and chop at health. ALL of my scout xp was gained from Torturs and to a lesser extent Huf-duns. THINK BIG. Also apply mask scent every time you see an aggro mob, it's free xp.

Trapping- this line was a joke, it took me litterally about 2 hours to get it. Get buffed and go pile traps on mid-level critters. For each succesfull "hit" on a Foaming vynock I got 100+ trap xp, now hit the same vynock with every trap you know how to make and hit /peace. It will still be hitting you but you don't want to kill it and waste time finding a new target. Once the effects of the first trap wear off ( look for the floaty) re-apply all the traps. Repeat until bored. Kill it when your ham gets low. As you level up and learn more trap schematics your xp gain grows, using all 8 traps I got almost 1 k of trap xp every minute ( a rough guess on how long trap efects stick, I use the bone spur first so I can just watch the blind icon disappear from my targets ham to know when to re-apply)

Camp- OK, this one was a little more mind numbing. Remeber to break camp every 5 mins on a basic camp kit and every 8-10 on the multi-person. I have found that the camp xp caps at about 350 for a basic and 650ish on the multi-person. Why waste time sitting in a camp that gives you no xp? GRIND CAMPS WHILE CAMPING. Construction of camps and traps gives you camp xp, a multi-person camp gives you 58xp on practice mode and take all of 7 seconds for the tool to produce. Use 2 tools and grind like crazy, have a stopwatch handy to remind you when your camp is stale so you don't get caught up crafting, the big xp is in the setting of the camp the grind is just maximizing the xp gain. ( guess at 50 camps every 5 mins of grinding= 2.9k + the 650 for just sitting in the camp=almost 3.5k in camp xp every 5 minutes)

Multi-task, if you are injured and have to camp to heal grind out camps. If you harvest all you own rescources you can keep the trees even. Scout is one of the few classes that can CONSTANTLY be earning xp. Unlike pistoleer where you actually have to go fight something.

I will concede that I did this a lot faster than a brand new toon could have as I am a master doc and can buff myself to compensate for my lost combat skills. I also have a better gun than most new players and am using pistol4 specials.I also had the app points for master before starting so that hurdle was not one I had to jump. I did however make a nov BH on wanderhome in about 3 or 4 days from scratch. Scout was easy, I bet ranger wont be.

I agree I had some advantages the new avatar won't have, but I dont macro. I hand ground thru doc craft and I hand ground thru camp. Boring but possible. Check my last post to see how long it took me to do with a brand new avatar.

Heh, you're nuts if you think a doc / pistoleer 0/0/0/1 is equal to a master pistoleer doc.

When we first started out it was hard to develop characters and challenging. Took me over 5 months to achieve master of my Bounty Hunter due to broken trees and investigation line that was bugged. Still i did it without whinning or crying!

Now with weapons so powerful and achiving your certs in these weapons you can probably master in 3 months time. Only reason i say this is becasue investigation got a boost but still alot of time to do one mission. One mission can last from 35 minutes to 1 hour if everything goes well and depending on the mark. This is just an FYI for all those that speak of what they dont know.

The earlier bounty hunters had it hard, it is getting easier but by far is it the easiest to amaster. It is difficult to learn and master.

No need to flame im just passing by and checking out the boards...

Of course a dual elite master is better than a master and a nov+1 box. Thats like saying 4 cookies are better than 3.

What I said was a (master doc/ 0/0/0/1 pistoleer) is scarier than a (master pistoleer/master medic). My fault if that was unclear.

The difference is the 3k ham on the master doc. A master pistoleer can pretty much be stopped by some stims and a good set of armor, both of which a master doc can have with ease ( we get to ignore all encuberance but mind because of the buffs so pile on the protective layers, who cares how heavy the thing is )

The battle between these 2 avatars would be an endurance match, first one out of mind dies. As one has a massive ham he will have to stim less often than the one dealin out the piles of damage. Stims cost mind. Guess who wins?

Actually, I believe you can throw the range vulnerabilty trap (I can't remember the name, glow juice maybe?) over and over again and it will give you experience every time. No need to even switch traps. And with a pet you can practically get all your xp on one creature!

Anyway its been a month or two since I did this so they might have changed it. *shrugs*
