Hello. I have begun to advance on the pistol tree. I usually use my republic blaster but I findthat my action points quickly get used up when I use the specials alot. Most of the time I'm out hunting with my creatures so I do the combined health bleeds, suppression and threaten shots.
I've made myself a CEDF Pistol that has HAM costs of 7-15-7. Should I use this for doing the specials then switch to my Republic Blaster for the regular damage? Thing is I see that the Bleeds are reduced in severity so is it worth using the CEDF?
I'm open to suggestions or good advice to do the most damage and limit my action costs.

Buffs are nice.....or you could try to move stat points into strength, quickness, and focus.

Just stick with the Republic Blaster to do the bleeds and such. I believe that Bleeds take into account the damage on your weapon so your CDEF wouldn't really do anything for you. As a Doc I can tell you that lots of Docs that are grinding will give out free or very cheap low level buffs. Maybe you could ask around Coronet and see if you could get some of these which would greatly alleviate the HAM costs.

More quickness than anything else.

If you're unbuffed and grouped, just assist-leech with autoattack (you can even afk macro this). Otherwise, like other ppl have suggested, is get a scout blaster, use the stat migration tool, or just find buff before you go exping. Also, you could get novice medic and some stim b's, then just heal the dmg that your specials burn away (hopefully your willpower is kind of high).. This is a good strategy for stealing large amounts of exp from dant groups

If you want a low HAM cost weapon, get yourself a Scout Blaster or a DL-44. I still wouldn't switch over to them when using specials, though. The entire purpose of special attacks is to do MORE damage, so switching to a weaker gun pretty much defeats the purpose of using specials at all.
Even against enemies that have high resistance to Energy damage, I use my Republic Blaster to lay the bleeds, then switch over to my FWG5, DX2, or Scatter (depending on the situation).
