I was talking about this in the DE board too, but am I the only one that craves a variety of items? What I mean is even if they have the same stats or similar stats, because there is only so much you can do, I would like a variety. So you would have say 3 different pistols that did pretty similar things but looked different and another 3 that did something else the same, but again looked different. At the moment I am an intermediate pistoleer and I just got back after a 10 month hiatus and I still have the same 2 guns, Republic blaster for energy and dx2 for acid, where's the variety?

Think of KOTOR and you'll see what I mean they had a huge range of weapons that had similarish stats,

Bothan blaster,
zabrak blaster,
republic blaster,
sith assasin pistol,
character specific pistol (Carth)

and so on and so on.....

It meant you chose your gun partly on your stats but also on the look and the name. This would bring some much needed variety and would also support the armoursmith's because I'm sure they are sick of crafting the same 8 weapons or so all the time. I mean how hard can it be? you make a gun model, a skin and then change the stats slightly on it and give it a background, hell I'm sure we could come up with some guns right here, in a universe as in depth as Star wars you can pretty much make anything up.

come on devs, wake up or give this game to somebody who actually wants it

Talk about lack of variety! All the pistols... ALL OF THEM... even the ones picked up in other professions, only do Kinetic or Energy damage in the CU. So basically two pistols will do you. I can't believe this. I am the biggest supporter of the CU, and like everything about it. And now because our profession can only wield 2 damage types, how effective will we be?

Ok first off, weaponsmiths make weapons not armorsmiths

Second, there are only two types of damage in the CU, some weapons get added elemental damage but all do energy or kinetic.

The CU seems to have removed variety from a number of different areas...not exactly what I would want to take credit for if I were a dev.

Take a look at the slicing changes...it's so pitiful that they might as just get rid of slicing altogether.

As far as I'm concerned the CU is completely borked from one end to another.

I completely agree with your opions about variety in looks.

Star Wars is all about individual style (unless you're a clone or a typical Imperial).

I've long wished they'd do away with the best gun (or three) and opened all of them up to be equal... simply take your pick based on it's looks. That's what Star Wars is about... flash, looks, style, mixed with high adventure!

I was hoping a system would be introduced for weapons like the way Star Ships were done.

The Gun body would be like the Ship Chassis and the actual gun mechanisms would be of certed levels, like the ship components.
Allowing a weaponsmith to craft a High Level CDEF Pistol, if that's what a certain master pistoleer wanted to use as thier signature weapon.
