I was pondering going pistols (my favorite ranged class) after the CU but i just wanted to ask some of you before i decided anything.. do you need to be a double profession to do any good after the CURB? as in, are pistols slow and no decent damage dealing unless you get smuggler or BH with it? just wondering because i know in some other profession forums they are saying you need to double up on proffs to do much of anything
i would have tested on my own but i keep CTD'ing as i login. Double proffs wouldnt kill me, but i would like to go chef/merchant/pistoleer... i guess if i have to i can go pistoleer/chef/ and maybe a tree up smuggler or such

Yeah it apppears you need two.
I tried to duel with just Master Marksman and Master Pistols and I got wasted.
I got Master Bounty Hunter and (still fighting with Pistols)
that made it better but I still got killed easily by
TKM (appears not that much will change eh?)
It really does appear that you have to choose to either be a fighter or not, if
you choose one combat and crafting you will die in PvP.

Master Pistoleer/Master Squad Leader. Tried this template out yesterday, it's really nice, IMHO. Especially with that Intimidator pistol in tow, you can do some nice damage with it.

As it stands now, all combat PvE and PvP basically depends on combat level and the multiplier based upon the differences, as the specials and tactics don't seem to do anything noticeable on testcenter. So yes you will need at least 2 professions to reach the current max level of 80, and choose them based upon accuracy, speed, and defensive modifiers. I myself have been playing pistoleer and BH (in the few minutes between crashes) Too early to tell what is really effective since everything is still bugged and needs more balancing (the combat upgrade rebalance rebalance upgrade anyone?)
