Warning shot reduces the targets defense by 80. This makes the target easier to hit, which is difficult to notice since I seem to barely miss a MOB around my combat level (70 at the moment.)
I was also under the assumption that the difference between my accuracy and the target's defense had an effect on the amount of damage I do to the target. Well, one would expect that if the target's defense gets reduced by 80 points that my hits during that debuff would score more damage than before the debuff. Well, it's not happening. If I hit a MOB with a damage shot before and after applying a warning shot, it does the exact same damage. The only time I see my potential damage on a target go up is when the target is KD.
Maybe the damage difference would be apparent if I used it on a target that had COB or Duelist Stance activated (though I'm pretty much a pure PvE player, so I've never fought anything with COB or Duelist Stance activated.)
Sidenote: I completely and utterly loathe the fact that our damage is calculated just once. Why even have damage ranges on our weapons if every strike does the same amount of damage?

After reading "Increasing values of accuracy and defense buffs and debuffs for a more noticable effect" here, I was hoping they would buff increase the debuff of warning shot.
I reckon it could do with reducing the targets ability to resist state effects as well.
