Thread: Removal of ADKs

Considering what happened to DE-10s during the conversion, my gun has become nothing but a display piece now. Before the CU I had put an ADK on it. Now, that ADK is wasted.

I believe we should be able to remove our ADKs without destroying the guns. Weren't Jedi allowed to remove ADKs from lightsabers at will for a time? This would be no different. Perhaps until the end of the respec period, ADKs do not destroy weapons when removed? I don't think this is much to ask for considering the uselessness of our multi-million credit guns.

I don't think the Devs need to do that. They warned us beforehand not to use our ADKs on items until after the CU because things would change. They told us that the best guns would still be the best guns, and they warned us not to use ADKs. You chose to believe one and ignore the other. Some of us chose to play it safe, and waited like they told us to. Not the Devs' fault as far as I'm concerned.

But the best guns pre-CU aren't the best guns now. So, the devs were not correct in that statement.

That's very true, but I can only assume that it was for reasons like this that they warned us not to use our ADKs on our items until after the CU.

You can blame the Devs for not converting weapons the way they said they would, but you can't blame them for your choice to use your ADK on a weapon when they warned you not to.

The devs were correct in the statment they made...

They never said if you had the best weapon in the game pre CU you would have the best weapon post CU...what they said was if you had the BEST DE-10 pre CU you would have the best DE-10 post CU...big difference and yeah I have a ADK on a DE-10 that I would like to have back

Yeah, this is a bit of a bummer. Personally, I held off and didn't use any, just in case something like this happened.

Of course, now the flip side of that is everything pretty much equally sucks, so it's hard to find something to use an ADK on now. And even "good" weapons in the 320 DPS range really aren't THAT great that you'd want to put an ADK on one.

For a jedi to get the adk back, he'd have to destroy the hilt.

Just fyi.

I had immediately put three ADK's on various equipment as soon as I got them (the week they became available), and I havelittle forregrets. One of them went on my DE-10, and although I would very much like to be able to remove it now without destroying my pistol, I realize that if I hadn't put it on the gun at the time, I would have used up that DE-10 long ago at the rate I have been using it, so it's really no loss. I got a lot more use out of that DE-10 than I ever would have if I had saved the ADK for the CU.

I put another ADK on a pair of really nice low-encumbrance comp armor gloves that I had loaded up with SEA's, figuring they would never lose condition. I subsequently found out that gloves would no longer be considered valid hit points for armor in the CU, so I was initially a bit bummed (okay, a lot bummed) that I didn't put them (and the attachments)on something that might have actually needed some damage protection, but my armor conversions haven't been too impressive anyway, so I probably would have ended up destroying the armor and reclaiming the ADK eventually anyway. I only wish I had held onto the AA's, because those are going to be painful to lose. I may just keep the ADK on these gloves and convert them into some other type of armor (and hope that doesn't bug the ADK!).

I put the final ADK on a PSG. PSG's are cheap and are used up in no time, so I could care less if I had to destroy the PSG after the CU release. I got thousands of percent more use out of it than if I had held onto the ADK.

I guess my point is that there is no real reason why people need to have held onto their ADK's all this time unusued, or to feel too badly that they have to destroy something to recover them. That being said, I do wish the devs would allow us to recover them at this point, and I will feel badlywhen I destroy that DE-10 to recover one! It's going to feel like it did when I dropped a bunch of FS skills that have become relatively obsolete.

well... i'll give you one ADK if that de-10 is above 975 dmg. Despite whatever, still can't really see me fighting without the "old colt",,,,

Nah, it only converted to 821 damage. My Modified Republic Blasters (I fortunately had a huge pack full of them pre-CU that I was about to sell!) and DL44 XT's turned out far better. I still carry it around a lot when I am not fighting, but it's mostly for show. I switch to something more powerful to do battle, unless it's just the odd NPC that pops up in town.

Still, your suggestion did occur to me--to trade it to somebody for an ADK (plus a lot of credits!)...
