Their argument about non-master level 54 weapons doesn't even hold water. Every DL44 XT I see is in every way better than my DE-10, which was krayted and yellow barrelled. The DE-10 just isn't comparable to a same-level pistol. The FWG5 is also better than the DE-10. Yes, some people have had good conversions. But usually I see that they had powerups on their guns for the conversion as well. If this is the case, the guns that had powerups need to be brought down, or the guns without powerups need to be taken up.
I've got a couple of schematics and barrells. I'm going to have someone make one with the same name as my old one so I can get my ADK back. It's better used on that Trandoshan pistol from the expansion.

All i have to say is huh?
After reading Rooks poston his opinion of where SWG is going, or more to the point hasn't been, I decided to read up on this lovely 4 page interview at IGN.com. Rooks postaddressed some faily good points, and even though itcould have beenpostedin a little more non-confrontational way,the main points were all there. I agreed with most of it, and even the Marksman Correspondant (I believe itwas the Marksman one, since this post was on theMarksman boards)generally agreed with it. I'd liketorefer you all to it, but it has been deleted.
Regardless of that, I decided to read the IGN.com intrerview and see whatelse thehigher ups at SOE are saying about SWG and the CU. BeforeI say anything else, i'd like to point out that I love the direction the CU is going in and for the most part, love thechanges that have been made.
So, I was reading this interview and Dallas Dickinson, producer at SOE, was talking about thestatus ofweapons:
IGNPC: While we're on the subject of items, how are you compensating players who have invested a lot of time or money in items that they can't use now?
Dallas Dickinson: I'm going to chalk this one up to a misconception. We changed the statistics on almost all the items that interact with the combat game, but we kept their relative values the same. If I was making the number one, top of the line blaster, it's still the number one, top of the line blaster. We just made the spread of the value much more reasonable. As you know, you can get the number one, top of the line blaster and it would make you invincible. It would, in fact, be orders of magnitude better than other blasters. We brought them into a standard deviation, but we kept the relative value the same. If someone wants to that number one, top of the line blaster, they still have to talk to that same guy who built the number one, top of the line blaster. It just happens that it won't make them ten times more effective in combat; it's going to make them a percentage more effective. For the hardcore player, that's still valuable. You still want to have the best weapon.
So, after seeing that he keeps stressing to IGN "but we kept the relative value the same", I say we look at the weapons we have. Since when was the FWG5 a relativly powerful weapon? And for that matter, what about the DE-10? It surely isn't the best pistol in the game anymore. (Yes, yes, i know, no more best weapons, but at least it should be worth while for all the work that's put into it.) For the DE-10 being "the nuber one, top of the line blaster" pre-CU, it surely dosen't look like its up there anymore post -CU.
What's going out there at SOE? Why are they advertising things that really arn't that true? Or are they advertising a SWG that's post CU and post Profession Revamp?? Several times in the interview when IGN brings up things like Dancers/Musicians not really being of that much use anymore, they seem to default to "that will be fixed in the Profession Revamp"
Are we always going to have to lookone upgrade ahead to fix issues that they seem to create while generating new and exiciting ideas, or for that matter, problems that have been here since day 1?
And what of the pistols?
ARE they brining the DE-10 back to the top of the list, or are they just going to wait until the Profession Revamps to fix thingslike this or is this just managment spewing the good and glorious CU and all that it contians?
SOE: Hey, we've fixed all the basic bugs in the CU, and all that's left are complaints on the forums. Let'spatch up to this imcomplete buggy version so thegeneral public HAS to give us theiropinions in order to get their game working again so they can play.
SWG Players: But, isn't that just forcing an incomplete beta on us, and making us pay the price for a fully, tested and working videogame?
SOE: LOOK! Double XP! You'll like that!
SWG Players: We protest that we're paying for a completly revamped game thats still in be-- DOUBLE XP!? SHINY!
SOE: See? Told you it would work.

They might be talking about really exceptional weapons or very high krayt with major damage slice as far as that goes. I've seen posts here on the Pistoleer forums where people's DE-10's converted rather nicely.
My DE-10 made with +80 tissue's converted to complete crap. Itcame out worsethan my non enhanced FWG5 and DX2 did.
So, if you had a real uber one of these then it probably converted well, but if you didn't, then it was brought into balance with what SOE thinksit should be now.
As far as they DL44 XT, it is a profession specific weapon and I've heard that profession specific weapons should be better than non profession specific weapons.
