I just bought a DX2 and I noticed something I thought was a bit strange. When it deals out damage, the number which floats above the target is usually quite a bit higher than what is displayed in my Combat window, sometimes by as much as 100 points. Why is this? Is it because the DX2 does acid damage or something?

iirc, the damage window numbers are not accurate, only the "floating" ones are - stupid bug

This is starting to sound like an exterminators message board. Not one post goes by without the word bug. Yet in the recent patch notes the only things I see getting changed are BS things like TICKETS and junk.. I don't give a hoot an nickel about tickets! MAKE THE GAME WORK!!

You fail to realize damage modifiers. If you use an acid attack on a critter with 100% acid resist your damage numbers over head are gona go down. In the same way if the critter has 0% resist to acid attack then they will be much higher. The combat tab is what your attack has actually hit for, then you need to add or subtract the multiplier of both the resist on the critter and if you used a special attack. There is no bug in the damage. It is just not accurate.

So then which is right? Because I was doing Body Shot 2's, and the dmg in the combat tab was lower than the ones I saw floating above their heads. These cons didn't have any acid defense, as I was shooting at vynocks and the like.

If your gun is armor piercing, you get a damage bonus for every level of armor piercing you have over the target's armor. In this case if you see you dealtXX damage in the combat text, the number over the target's head should be higher. Just remember the number in the combat text is the base damage before armor / armor piercing / resistances.
