Pistoleer is my 4th holocron profession. For my first 3, I would look at the appropriate forums to see if there was a 'how to grind through this profession' thread, and there normally was. However when I got to pistoleer i was somewhat disappointed that there was no real threads on this. There are the occasional 'whats the fastest way to make pistol exp' threads, but they all have well thought out answers like 'shoot stuff'. So, i'm making this:

How to grind out pistoleer in 15 hours or less

First off, I recommend getting a decent Republic blaster with a decent slice, and also a couple crates of muon. Also, make a macro that is just basically "/bodyShot2;/bodyShot2;/bodyShot2...." etc. Hitting that button once is much nicer than hitting /bodyshot2 20 times.

1. Travel to the Mining Outpost on Dant.

2. Find a Master Doctor to buff you (it is also a good idea to wear armor). This will give you a good 2+ hours of grinding.

3. Take out a pet/droid, have him group, and tell him to stay.

4. Get two Savage Quenker missions (Usually are about $7k) in the same general direction

5. Drive out to the first mission and put on mask scent if you have it (this will let you get a couple shots off before the quenker decides to attack you)

6. Take a muon after you have killed the first 2 quenkers if possible. This will give you enough time to finish off both lairs before the muon wares off.

Just repeat this process until your buffs wear off. You should be able to get about 8-10 runs in this way. If you level something before your buffs wear off, keep grinding, you can learn skills AFTER your buffs wear off.

Each run is about 50k exp, so 8-10 runs is about 400-500k exp. It takes 3675k exp to master, so if you do this process about 7-9 times, you will master.

When you're first starting pistol, and can be tough to take more than one critter at a time (at least it was for me as a Wookiee). I found it easier, but more time consuming, to mask scent, and then open with /healthshot2; /healthshot1; /peace. The critters will ignore you; once the first bleed ticks only the bleeding one will charge you.

But bleeding diminishes the XP you get.

No it doesn't. It has no impact on XP.

Through some xp, I've found in some cases using bleed, auto argos not only the 1 you just shot at but others as well to attack you. It's a real pain in the butt when you have like 3 attacking you at once.

I would only change the quenkers to Gaint Baz's on Dath. They only pop out 2 at a time, have no armor rating ( quenkers have light armor don't they?) and a lair and it's spawns is worth about 30k.

go prone, slap on the bleeds and get clear (70m) before the first bleed tick. Only the Baz you've bled will come to you and they are much easier 1 on 1. Be aware that Baz's have a decidedly unhealthy interest in vehicles. Your target may just run past you and aggro your ride. Be sure and park a safe distance away, so that once the bleed starts ticking, you are closer to the bleeder than your parking spot is.

You can furhter speed this up by picking up feign death from the smuggler tree, then you can bleed both baz's and feign if it gets too heavy. Have a snack and when the health bar is down to 1 you get up and start with the bodyshots.

No one wanted to have the game degenerate into grind madness, but SOE brought it on themselves with this holo stuff.

Problem with the giant baz's is that there are normally gaping spiders surrounding them For a novice pistoleer i would not recommend Giant Baz's. Perhaps when you have fanshot it would be easier but then you will be wanting to go somewhere better like Seeting Bols (i dunno..). Plus Dathomir is so dark i like looking at the landscape when im fighting

I'll concede that Dath is not the cheeriest place in the game

As for the gaping spiders, I always seem to find a few Kammurith's hanging around the Baz's, or shear mites, rarely spiders. Maybe it's a time of day thing, or maybe we reperesent the opposite ends of the luck spectrum as far as MOB's in the area. Regardless, any time you are going to a higher lvl planet ( dath, dant, yavin, endor) you must be aware of what else is lurking in the bushes.

If these planets are just plain to strong for where you are at in your skill set, take a lil trip to Talus and check out Torturs. No DB, non-agro giant beasts worth some pretty fair xp. And the ground shakes when they fall, very satisfying.

Hey, those are some of my favorite threads.

No, they brought it on themselves when they decided to make "the way of the path" to Jedi mean mastering multiple proffessions across multiple diciplines. Even without the holos sooner or later it would have caught on that that's what you have to do to get your FS slot.

I'm taking the advice of the first quote (excluding the pet, I'm usingan awesome FWG5, and I don't have muon yet), but I have two questions. What is muon, and is there something that buffs your mind? I'm hoping you'll tell me thats what muon does.
