Thread: One Pistoleer branch to pursue, which one?

I'm not at master yet but I'll reply the best I know how.

I personally dislike the dodge tree in its present state. While in battle last night, against NPCs, I was dodging more than fighting. And while aggoed, dodging one NPCs shot while getting hit by two others. I don't know when or if they will replace this. The dodge should not take the place of an attack. I am actually sort of dreading mastering the proff due to this issue.

I enjoy the speed tree and enjoy the accuaracy tree. I know one of those has the dodges in it, can't remember which. But accuracy and speed are always nice.

The Def vs Knockdown tree, I think it is techniques, if probably the best if you are only taking one tree. This for one simple fact. If they get close enough to you that you have to put your rifle away, hopefully they wont knock you down while there. I am serious. Your rifle will outgun a pistol any day of the week. But if they are close enough that the rifle is no good, then accuracy and pistol speed will be the least of your concerns.

Just my two cents. I bet a master pistoleer will have more 'tried and true' opinion to give you.

FYI

Dodge and Block don't stack.

There is no "combination" to be had. If your using a rifle you will block, if using a pistol you will dodge. Neither will benefit the other in this regard.

Defense vs X = will however stack

Greetings all. I will soon be a master Rifleman and will have enough pts to obtain 4 skills as a pistoleer (beyond novice). What would you guys advise? I'm leaning toward Pistol tactics or Stances & Grips. I've heard how effective the dodge modifiers are for you guys with pistol tactics. That combined with the Rifleman's ability to block could prove very effective. On the other hand, Stances and Grips gives several defensive modifiers against Stun, Blind, Dizzy, Posture change, and Knockdown. There are also some offensive specials in this branch too like double tap, stopping shot, and fan shot. Are these effective specials? Any feedback is most welcome. Thanks

He hit it right on the money, and without some speed our specials will be pretty worthless to you. Take the speed line (stances) or the defenses line purely for the def vs X.

Thanks. The fact that block and dodge don't stack answered my question. Appreciate the input.

Take the state defences line, that does stack...
