I have a question that has been chewing on my brain for quite some time now.

I am TKM now, I ended up there in the hologrind era. It was my first grind, I stopped after that end kept on going with TKM. It kicks ass! Although I always wanted to go pistoleer. It's more Star Wars feel!

Now I wonder how big is the difference between Master Pistoleer and TKM? I'd like all aspects covered.. Defense, damage, solo-possibilities vs group-possibilities.. I'd be very grateful for some help

thank you

I was a TKM for about 8 months or so, and i allways said i'd never drop it. It does alot more dmg than pistoleer. And you dont even need a weapon if you wish. TKM can land any state on a target as well. Which is very usefull in pvp. However the defenses do suck without stancking from someplace else. And pistoleer isn't the greatest without some speed/accuracy from bh and the specials from smuggler rock as well. If i had to choose 1, i'd say TKM but if i were to stack proffs i'd do the pistols template with it all, or do the triple threat (TKM/master pistoleer/master smuggler)

Well I'm both right now and TK out damages pistoleer by miles. The melee defense is nice, you can go toe to toe with enemies for great lengths of time. Pistoleer though is by far more fun to me though. We do pretty decent damage, not TKA damage though, but we can get it done. It's a lot better with some smuggler or some BH like the earlier poster said. TKA is a good profession if you want solo. Pistoleer(by itself) is not my choice on higher level stuff. The only thing pistoleer lacks is more damage. If we could devestate the health pool then we would be better off. Just get both! LOL Pistoleer was my first combat profession, it was for over a year the only combat profession I could bring myself to master. I got TKM about 2 months ago just to see what it was all about. I like it. Goes well with smuggler.

Examples are based on inherent skill sets of a TKM and a Master Pistoleer.

Lair busting (Dantooine example):

TKM (HAM buffed, no armour, a couple of brandy, ahrisa ) - can stand and target the MOKK/JANTA and spam unarmed spin attack 2.Destroyed lair and dead cavemen.

MP (HAM buffed, composite armour, a couple of brandy ) - 2 approaches

a. bleed-pull single mobs and spam with favorite special.

b. fanshot all the mobs and run around like a scared little girl.

Hunting those special mobs (Dathomir example) Night Sister Elder

TKM (HAM buffed, composite armour, brandy etc) - exercise in futility. Exposes one weakness in an otherwise powerful class, damage limited to kinetic.

MP (HAM buffed, composite armour, a couple of brandy ) - has an array of weaponry that candeal damage to the Elder. Terrain negotiation skills is a must to kite the Elder across some of Dathomir's landscape.

PvP - is a toss up. Whoever is prepared will emerge victorious. A master pistoleer wearing 80% kinetic armour loaded on dizzy def and KD def food at 64m will give a TKM problems. However, once a TKM does KD/Dizzy on an MP and it sticks, that's the end of the fight usually.

The above are based on highly restricted examples. Normally, TKM will cross train into another combat profession to compensate the kinetic damage weakness. A Master Pistoleer on the other hand will take smuggler and BH pistol skills to increase damage, speed and accuracy.

My one criteria is the fun factor. If you are having fun, then you found your profession.
