Thread: awesome idea for Disarming shot

change it so it actually Disarms! Seriously. Why cant disarming shot unequip the weapon your target is holding? with the 5 second weapon switch timer it would be a really useful special, and they could add a 30 second timer to it like KD.


Whats the downside? i cant see one. Knock a lightsaber out of a jedi hands, for 5 seconds he cant block you.... mmmmm

Hate to tell you, but it's been suggested as such several times over the last year. It's a great idea and if there's a pistoleer special called disarming shot post combat revamp, I hope that's the way it works... but who knows eh?

The disarming of the weapon idea was one of 3 possibilities that was rejected. One of the others was damaging the actual weapon itself. Fun novelty but not overly useful, and rejected anyway. People would complain about grieving anyway if you just spammed that at someone and you know someone would do just that. The other was giving back the kd, which would be extremely useful. I believe that too has been rejected. Probably due to the fact carbineers have a range kd. I do not remember who had the idea but someone did suggest disarm shot giving a penalty to your opponents accuracy. I suppose that really is the only other option that really makes sense. I do not think that has been rejected yet. I have to find the post again. If I find that post I will let you know. I am just trying to let you know what has already been suggested.

How about a "ranged intimidate" ?
has it been rejected too ?

Personally I would prefer it damages the weapon itself.
I for one would LOVE to distroy multimillion credit weapons)geos, DE-10s, DOT weapons, etc) using only a cdef.

As it stands now pvp is totally borked due to things like that, whoever has a FOTM temp-plate and high credit equipment wins. Its not right, everything should be totally equal.

i think it would be a great idea if it had a longer timer. more like, 2min or something. then you couldn't grief with it and plu scmon, pistoleer needs some uber kicka$$ specials.

Check it out. Maybe you can come up with other ideas based off of it. At least you will have an idea about most of the ideas on disarm shot that have been tossed around. With a little luck after the combat revamp we will be in a lot better shape than we are now. Just be sure you keep those ideas coming.

Just give it the "knockdown" timer. Or have it fail if used twice in a row. I'm just going off of Low Blow. I think that is a balanced special, so why not model it after something like that.
