I want to be BH/Pistols/Smuggler or Commando, and I was wondering..is master pistoleer worth it? I was thinking 4440 pistols, 3040 BH, 0040 Smuggler and some medic. Anyone help?

I personally am Master pistoleer/ BH pistols/ commando. This gives me certs for every pistol, and lots of damage types. The Launcher pistol is exelent for NS hunting. Without it...its gonna be tough killing high end NS, if they are your game.

If you have played with medic then its hard to give up, but I never played with medic and here's why.

I never go anywhere important unbuffed anymore, just to difficult. That being said, my subs are so high they heal my pool about as fast as a stim B would. Also if you are a pistol/BH/smuggler/novice commando then you have a continuous stim in feign death. If you see you are gonna go down, then fake it aand let your subs regen everything then hop up and finish the job. At least thats what I do anyways.

you guys with commando, are you just doing novice commando? I'm working on getting Master pistoleer. Currently I'm master marksman, BH pistols 3, Pistoleer xx42. I have been reading other people templates thoughts and was just wandering what part of commando others are working. I was thinking about the launcher pistol but nothing else in Commando interested me. Thanks for your response.

Most posters who say they have commando just have the novice for the launcher certification.

Hell yes Master Pistoleer is worth it. Why? Because you can wield the DE-10. Oh and about your template, don't go commando unless you have a really really good launcher, even then it will mostly be used to create lag or kill turrets. I suggest the BH 3040 MPistols 0040 Smuggler, it's a lot of fun.

de-10 is the only pistol to constantly hit 480+ damage on our server.

Hehe, my thoughts are exactly the opposite lately, Percy (though I understand what you are saying!). I never go anywhere buffed anymore because it's too difficult... too difficult to go through the time, trouble, and cost of getting doc and mind buffs when I could be spending my valuable game time fighting instead. I used to find it difficult to fight unbuffed, but I slowly realized that it was just a crutch for me, and with good tactics you can be perfectly viable unbuffed (in fact I very rarely get killed in PvE unbuffed, and I don't even have feign death). I'll admit that PvP would be an entirely different story though!

Of course, my idea of what is an "important" place to go has changed a bit since I changed my playing style. I simply don't go to places where an unbuffed solo player would have little chance of survival. I do still go through the effort of getting buffed on the rare occasions when I feel like I absolutely need it (like in the current phase of the Village--just try fighting a SIth Pirate unbuffed if you're into a real challenge!).

Anyway, to answer the original question, yes, mastering pistoleer is definitely worth it. It was for me anyway--I can't see myself ever giving up my Master Pistoleer title.

Bria is still the most populated server so I really have no trouble finding a buffer, there's people everywhere most days.

Yeah, I suppose that would make a big difference. On Naritus, you can usually only reliably find them in about 2 places (in front of the Coronet starport, and at the Mining Outpost on Dantooine), but only at certain times of the day, and when you do find them, there's often a very long line. By the time I find an available doc and then head to a cantina to complete a mind buff, I've easily wasted 30-45 minutes.

Even if buffs were easier to get though, I still think I'd be playing unbuffed most of the time lately. The added challenge is simply making the game a lot more fun for me, and once you've tried playing unbuffed way for a while and develop some good tactics (it also helps if you have good dodge/speedmods, foods, armor, weapons, and tank pets), I find that it's not at all difficult to play that way. I remember when I first started as a pistoleer, that I would never go near any Tuskens if I wasn't buffed (too many unpleasant experiences getting killed by them). Now, I find them one of the easier mobs to tackle, and will not hesitate to run right up to a Tusken warlord (even if he's in a small group of his buddies) unbuffed and take him out.

Nightsisters are another story though...
