Thread: TO BLEED OR NOT TO BLEED. That is the question.

I have read several posts that say bleeding is not worth the time/shots. Others (myself included) are great proponents of the bleed as an offensive weapon. Just a discussion post here for all you pistoleers out there.

How many use the bleeds in combat as a viable option?

How many just spam insert special here and call it a day?

How do you PvP as a pistoleer?

Well I like you like bleeds, but I can see were others have the feeling it is a waste. I always plan to be in a fight for more than just a few minutes therefore anything that can help me over time is a plus. Now I know and have friends that only use one special in pvp and that’s the constant spamming of eye shot with an occasional low blow/last ditch combo. Honestly, while eye shot is a very valuable special (assume you have BH), with a little prep, food and armor you can overcome it. I usually open with eyeshot to blind, very handy, followed by torso, then bleed one and two and just play it by ear from there. If they have any medic skills they might heal the bleed and if they do I don’t hit those specials again. I absolutely love torso shot people can rack up some nasty wounds with that one, and honestly, most people can’t use fire blankets so it is a nice DOT. Overall, I use it, if you get someone without basic medic skills, then, it is nice to see that dot tic, if they use stims, all the better because they are using mind, and ill throw a few eyeshots there way. Overall, I use them, I don’t like the delay on the specials per see, and they are not the one hit win button, but overtime they are useful in certain situations.

I’m usually wrong and according to me wife that’s 90% time, and this post is no different.

Cheers

Depends on what I'm doing.

If I'm out hunting Nightsisters solo, I tend to set the bleeds and burns going, feign death, rinse and repeat. Every so often I get up and knock them down (with LowBlow) or delay them (with PanicShot) and throw a few big shots (with Last Ditch) while they're KD'd/delayed. I like to let the bleeds/burns do the work. Let's me talk to my guildies, keeps my weapon and armor condition up, keeps my heart rate down, etc.

If I'm hunting medium level MOB's, I use the above tactics only if spamming Last Ditch doesn't take it down quickly and I am running out of HAM.

Low level mobs I usually just KD and then Last Ditch them.

And every once in a while, I like to pull out my Kill-Bot and let him tank and bleed/burn the guy just for fun. I like to listen to my droid scream as he gets beat down.

To answer your general question, I believe bleeds/burns are a great tool in our arsenal, but they are not the only tools that we have that we should use.

May the Force be with you.

I like to use every bleed at my disposal from time to time, but as Pug said, it depends on what I am doing. With low-end mobs, I find it a waste of time to use low-damage shots to stack a little extra bleeding when I could instead be using a more powerful special to kill the mob in a few quick shots. With higher-end mobs, I like to lay on every DoT that I can... HealthShot1, HealthShot2, TorsoShot, BleedingShot...and keep them all going as Ialternate with a focused-pool attack (usually TorsoShot or StoppingShot, or occasionally EyeShot if I feel I need to target Mind). I have a macro tofire all of the bleedsa few times (to get a good roll to stick) for high-end mobs before spamming my main spammer special.

When anyone mentions "Bleeds" and "Pistoleer" you just know the emphasis is on Desperado.

I'd never bother with HS1 or HS2 in PvP, its all lob mind poison and hope for stopping shot/fan shot to hit mind.

I do use em in PvE though, stack 6 health poisons then the two bleeds, if I really meant it I'd get a Mod. Rebublic Blaster out as well.

I've managed to get an awesome -32 bleed from HS2 in PvP once.

When I threw my support behind using bleeds in PvP, it was not as the end-all tactic. I've played pistols long enough to know that we really don't even have an "end-all"

I know that bleeds are a big part of my everyday routine. Dont know much about there use in PvP as I dont engage in that often, but I do know that while not overwhelming they do help out in my PvE hunting. And now for my dumb question of the day. Do Bleeds stack? I mean health shot 1 and 2 will they both cause a bleed?

Yes, they do.

And back to the question of the usefulness of bleeds... One of the reasons I use them is that I just find it fun to lay on all the bleeds that I can, then back off and watch the mob slowly bleed to death as I don't fire another shot. Sometimes I'll kite an aggroed mob from outside of firing range just to watch him bleed. The ticks aren't too impressive from pistoleer specials alone, but when you stack them with bounty hunter DoTs they can be quite impressive indeed.

I'm not really sure how I would answer the question of the utility of bleeds if I was anon-BH pistoleer. I'd probably end up spamming HealthShot2 most of the time just because it's a focused-pool attack, and the bleed would simply be a nice little bonus.

So Lets say an opening of prone, bleeding shot, health shot 1 and 2, blind shot then last ditch would put me in a good position

Assuming the template in your signature is all you have for pistols, you wouldn't have access to Bleeding Shot or Eye Shot. But if you're a BH, that wouldn't be a bad opening attack for some mobs, especially if you added Torso Shot. I personally don't bother with Eye Shot though unless I intend to spam it to attack someone's Mind pool.

I do spam it in PVE, when buffed, but not all the time, to boring for me. Most of the time I use alot of the specials to make it exciting.

I don't PVP as the combat is right now, waiting for the CU.
