If they have a low mind pool, what the hell take out your geo and spam eye shot but if there mind is fully buffed you wont get very far. I ushally go for health with torso shots instead

Hmm, from what you guys say BH pistols sounds like a necessity. Hehe..
The only advantages I can see of doing BH are the +50 accuracy, torso shot and eyeshot. Do those outweight the benefits of Last Ditch, Panic shot, and Underhand shot?

Yah it is thw worst part about pistoleer. The profession is very sucky without adding additional skills from BH or Smuggler.

Hey guys, I have recently been looking into pistols and have run across a few questions.
Ok, my template was going to be 4004 tka, 2040 fencer, 0040 smuggler, master pistoleer, 0040 medic. This isn't exactly finalized as I may have a few skillpoints left over or unavailable.
Ok, so the first issue I came over is group PvE. It seems like I will be no use on krayt hunts or against any creature/npc with more than a light armor rating. Is this just the nature of pistoleers to be almost useless against high end PvE?
The second is in pvp. I came across the issue of have no mind targeting attack. Personally, I believe it's possible to be successful in pvp without having a mind target attack (carbineers) and I was probably going to use the same tactics I used on my carbineer.
So basically I am just wondering if anyone else has a similar template, and if they do, how do they fare in these categories?

well.... mind is NOT a nesecity in pvp, 3/4 of the time i fight i incap the person on health (fencer or i use rifleman if they are docs and cna hela up) however because pistoleer is lacking a strong health attack eye shot works amazingly well. id suggest you pick it up, however you can probly still do fine without it, youll just have to work hard on finding specail tactics for it

It's hard work PvP'ing without a mind attack, I used to resort to lobbing mind poisons and then hoping for a lucky fan/stopping shot.
Fighting against most of the common PvP templates out there pretty much necessitates a mind attack of some sort.

In all the duels I've been in, I've won by killing Health, not Mind, and I am a Desperado.
BH-Pistoleers have a plethera of Health DOTs (one Health Fire, three Health bleeds, and two weapon DOTs if you include the Mod Rep blaster and the Enhanced E11 Carbine). If you can stick all of these, they add up and will help significantly.
The other reason Health seems to work in PvP is that most PvPers expect a Mind attack. They don't expect to fight Pistoleer unless he's a BH-Pistoleer -- because really, what right does a useless Master Pistoleer have to be in PvP?? -- and if he's a BH, they expect that he took BH just so he could learn Eye Shot and gain the speed Cap. My point is, most PvPers won't even buy Stun chest/glove/boot armor because they tend to expect attacks to the Head only. So you whip out your Geno blaster, and spam HS2 a bunch of times and you're home free.
I've even had people get kind of irrate at me for not attacking their Mind. Now that was funny!

When players can heal their entire health pool every 4 seconds, you'd have to be able to do over 3k damage to the health pool in 3 seconds.. or 3 attacks, 1k a hit basically.
I suppose you can kill players that dont have much medic with health targetted attacks... not sure if I'd jump up and down at that accomplishment though, what with me being an elite medic junkie and all.

In larger scale battles when you have the help of the riflemen eyeshot can be very effective. In small scale battles I only use eyeshot for the blind state.
As Ren said, the stackable bleeds/fire DOT we (pistol/BH/smuggler) have can be brutal if done correctly.
I use this list exclusively and it works wonders.
(In this general order)
/eyeshot til blinded - lowers accuracy of opponent
/lastditch til stunned - lowers dmg output
/intimidate - lowers damage output
/torsoshot x2 - fire health DOT (spam a few times to get a good roll for tick) -- strongest gun(geo if u got it)
/bleedingshot x3 - random pool bleed, spam to be sure of a health bleed -- strongest gun
/healthshot1 x1 - health bleed -- strongest gun
/healthshot2 - health bleed -- strongest gun
/panicshot -- strongest gun
/peace
Reapply /eyeshot and /lastditch with a Mod Rep Blaster - 105 health bleed, blinded, stunned
/panicshot
/peace
/switch to E11 Carbine - 150 Health Bleed
If you want to be really nasty, use /fullautosingle for the dizzy then switch back to pistols and use /lowblow, then spam /lastditch or /HS2 or /Torsoshot and let the hate tells flow

I am a M Pistoleer and do well against most any PvE and usaully fairly well against PvP. But my friend is a M Pistoleer with novice BH and Novice Commando so he can use the scatter pistol (argueably a better acid pistol then DX2 which I tend to think is probably true) and the blaster pistol in commando which does treat blast damage and very few PvE and even PvP have the armor to stop all these combinations so he is definitely more effective in just pistols.

I don't know why everyone insists on adding BH into their template. An all pistols template lacks melee mitigation and will get owned by any melee'er using posture down/dizzy (there's no food to defend against it).
Go tkm/pistoleer/smuggler 0040 and get +25 speed and accuracy tapes. You'll own any non-dot user. You'll both mitigations, be able to target every pool (with tkm), and be able to spam last ditch at the speed cap. You'll also have +70 vs knockdown (no need for thak, someone with +70 is nearly un-kd'able 90% of the time).
