Can some explain how the speed cap works?
This is what I understand as I move up the pistoleer tree I get bonuses to my speed and eventual I will be shoot at 1 shot per second. Is there way to calculate my speed that I currently have ?
Now if my gun is dirt slow, speed of 3 will I still be shooting at 1 per second if I am speed capped ?

Excatly.
You could have a weapon speed of 20 and it would still fire at 1 per second.
Click here for a weapon damage calculator to see how it works.

Incidentally, you will not speed cap as you move up the pistoleer tree. A master pistoleer is not speed capped--you need to either pick up Bounty Hunter pistols or get some speed tapes for that.

"Who would use a broken formula like that to calculate speed? SOE WOULD."
Too funny. Thanks for the info that clears up a whole lot and afraid all at the same time.
Anybody know if the CURB going to change this ?

Glad to be of service, Yohan. As for whether the CURB is going to change this, that would be speculation at this point, but I've heard people say that speed may not be hard-capped in the CURB--you would get diminishing results as your speed increases (e.g. adding 10 points to your speed mod early on would result in a much greater actual speed increase than one when your mod is, say, 100). Don't hold me to that though--nobody really knows how it's going to work (except perhaps those sworn to silence by the NDA).

It just seems ridiculous that I could shoot a pistol with a speed of 10 at 1 shot per second if I get enough modifiers

Lol, that and another million ridiculous things in this game, like being able to beat up an ATST with your bare hands

Ya well lets not get into the whole melee thing. Even though I have no idea why there are so many melee professions in a star wars game.
