the other day i got 1131 and i got stoping shot at 3. now when i went to try this out i was hitting 1k-2k hits. i couldnt believe it, i really havent touched the offensive tree. im using a mod republic 108-258(non puped sliced) Now ive seen pisotl wiht 500 or 700 max damage. what kind of hits do those do? im also going to get the smuggler "dirty fighting tree" and that will ad even more mods to it. So now heres my real question. what is the highest hit you(as a pistoler) have ever hit?
lol this is jsut so i can see what i can lookf forward 2.

Depends on the weapon your using. By far the DE10 is superior for all out raw damage but it also depends on your template. A high damage DE10 (damage slice) is gonna hurt just a pure pistoleer because of the speed mod .. mix that with stopping shot (pistoleer's most powerful shot 5x) and you get a very long delay between shots if your not speed capped.

For the best all out pistoleer template for best damage output try:

Master Pistols

BH 0-0-4-0

Smuggler 0-0-4-0

With this template and using my DE10 (225-665 puped) I can hit for 5000 damage in PVE using Last Ditch (6x plus stun).

Same template and weapon using Stopping Shot I can hit for about 4000 in PVE.

This of course will all vary depending on your targets armor rating and resists.

There is another way to speed cap without wasting skillpoints but it's a long and expensive one.

Using a combination of Force Sensitive Skills (FS Melee Speed), PIstol Speed Clothing and Armour Attachments and Pistol Speed stims you can reach speedcap wihtout being forced to put Bounty Hunter in your template.

And as for damage done, remember that the combat log only shows the amount of damage that you hit the target for, not how much the target takes after factoring in armour and resistances.

The real damage is shown in the number that hovers above their head.

Also, if you manage to knock down your target then the damage is greatly multiplied, and a stun state means your target can take up to double damage...

There is a problem with pistols in that they only go up to Light Armour PIercing, and against targets with Medium and Heavy armour you get a damage reduction penalty.

So your combat log can say you are hitting an Ancient Krayt Dragon (Heavy armour and 90% resists to everything but cold, 30% and LIghtsaber, 0%)for upwards of 2k a hit, but the numbers floating off its head are actually in the region of -21, -30, -12.

If you want a little laugh, when you are doing a mission that involves a lair, kill all the mobs that spawn first and then hit the lair, you may see huge damage numbers as this means that there are no more mobs left to spawn, its not uncommon to see 10k+ hits from this, but as I say it's just a bit of fun.

Personally, I think I've seen real hits in the region of 3k on decent mobs (light armour and around 30% resists) after a sucessful knockdown and a stopping shot. I'm sure you could get a higher number if you kd and stopping shot something like a durni, providing it lived through the initial Pistol Melee Defence 1.

My current DE-10 is 585 w/pup but I have the schem and +156 dmg power handlers just waiting for a yellow barrel. Bwah hahahahaha.. cant wait

But with my current one (and have the BH pistol line) I can dish out 4k hits at 1/sec to anything with no armor and 3k to anything with light armor, however it decreases severly when up against bigger things. My current DE-10against say.... an acient krayt are around 150, lol... so you can see the difference.

The only downfall with the *All Star Pistols* template is that it takes ALL your skill points to get ... which means no medic skills ... and you still can not do high end PVE (which really sucks). So here I am with an great hybrid template with the best pistol specials in the game and a wide variety of damage types ... and I still can't dish out even close to same damage per second as a swordsman or rifleman in high end PVE, even with a super uber DE10. Checks and balances I guess.

I gringe everytime I'm in Fort Tusken and have to turn away from an Observer or Executioner and watch from the sideline as a swordsman goes in and drops them both ... grrrrrr. Lol.

Why is the speed for a pure pistolier so low, anyway? I just dropped master rifleman for pistolier, which I am enjoying, but what's with the 74 speed at master? Riflemen get +90. I thought pistols were supposed to be high speed, low damage, good defenses. Anyway, I just bought a 495 max damage DE-10 (before powerup) and I can't wait to master.

Personally, it's the fact that so many of our specials are STILL broken since the start of the game that bothers me.

[edit] Oh and to be on topic, it felt devilishly good to finally get a DE-10 and start whallopping KDed foes for over 6000 damage and I believe I hit an empty base for 15,000 once.
