depends on your template, weapons, other equipment and who you're fighting.
But generally, a plain master pistoleer is fairly slow, inaccurate and cannot do much damage.

Despite what people may think, winning PvP with a pistol in hand actually requires player skill.

It certainly does. There are two reaons for that.
1) The amount of skillpoints it takes to get Dirty Fighting or BH PIstols means you dont have much more to put into defence or medic.
2) And if you dont want to use BH pistols or Dirty Fighting then you have to spend a lot of time and money in getting Pure Pistoleer up to par, getting speed capped through CA/AA's, pistol speed stims and maybe fs melee speed (for four skillpoints its a lot cheaper) and then doing what you can to improve accuracy.
Then you need DoT weapons as your specials are pretty useless in PvP.
So yes.... requires a fair amount of time and effort as well as skill.

I was decent in PVP. Max I ever got my rating up to was 1700. Right before I quit, it was more like 1400. lol I was proud though as I never used medic.

I used to PvP a lot more before the rating system was put in than after it.
Went to about 1600 ish max pvp rating without BH Pistols or Smuggler, am now on 1527 and still retired from PvP... there was only so many times I could take being glow sticked to death.

Those were the only times I'd put my precious pistols down in favor of my VK.

Don't need DoTs unless you're fighting a Jedi with MLS... or somebody with an ADK PSG... I do just fine against all templates with MP + Rogue and my Geo.

That, and the fact that we can barely hit people. Any pistoleer that blindly runs into the middle of a huge fight WILL lose. You have to play your role, and for pistoleer that role isnt a bruiser. You stay back, pick off people that are weak and keep an eye out for your comrads. Take down CMs if they get close, they are easy prey for pistoleers. The only other thing you can do is if you are stacked with fencer fanshot the crowd of enemies and have your doc and CM keep you alive. If done correctly, you can actually distract and keep agro on TONS of people, letting your more damaging players spend their time killing instead of surviving.

I refuse to accept such a pitiful role... ![]()
Not a lot of choice really though is there. ![]()

Playing pistoleer on the TC was fun for pvp. Low blow coupled with a riflemans flurry shot 2 (a quite effective dizzy/kd combo) and than last ditch has like a x5 or x6 multiplier. not to mention a good scatter or Geo w/ head shot.
dunno, just my 2 cents.
