Thread: What about Pistoleer Becoming Crowd Control?

Now I'm a relative newbie on the boards, but this was going through my mind recently, about where we fit in. I'm not saying this is a perfect plan, but it's a plan, and maybe one little idea is worth this whole thread.

What if Pistoleers became more crowd control in PvP and PvE? I'll go over our specials the way I could see them:

Double Tap - Do real change I could think of, so I'll just go with the Fix listed in the stickied thread.

Stopping Shot - Make it a Ranged Knockdown. The emphasis is that we should have a Ranged Knockdown. Call it "taking the opponent out at the knees" if you wish.

Fan Shot and Melee Defense 1 are fine.

Melee Defense 2 - I like the stickied thread of giving it a knockdown as well as a Stun state.

Multi Target Pistol Shot - The way I see it this or a new special would become an "Agitate Shot". It hits all the targets in the radius (which could be extended to 48m), BUT it gives them a good chance to aggro EACH OTHER. It wouldn't work reliably on high level MOB's, or ones engaged in combat, but if you manage to sneak within range and say, use it successfully on a fambaa lair, or even a pair of nightsisters, they might starts attacking each other. The emphasis is that there should be a Master Level Agitate Shot that can make MOBs aggro each other.

Disarming Shot 1 - Change the name and make it give a state. Maybe blind, maybe stun. Make it Posture Down. The emphasis is that we have a Posture Down attack that either gives good damage or applies a state to make it better than Suppression Fire.

Disarming Shot 2 - Renamed to just "Disarming Shot", a devastating Master Pistoleer Attack, suited mainly for PvP, it *gasp* disarms the opponent. No damage to the weapon. It just unequips it. with the new weapon delay, that's 3 seconds you're SOL.

+Bonuses - We'd have more emphasis on Dodge and Defense vs Knockdown/Posture Down/Stun and less on Pure Defense and Defense vs Blind/etc. Maybe take away Ranged Damage Mitigation 3 (although I know everyone would hate the idea of us losing something). Our Speed should climb higher, and faster. A Pistoleer up to the 3rd Level of the Speed Tree with a 2.0 Weapon should be firing at the Speed Cap. This also gives pistols with a Higher Damage but also Higher Speed more worth.

There should definetly be a bonus for getting the Ranged Support tree, which would augment us with Warning Shot.



The way I see it, we'd have three knockdowns - A very reliable Melee one, a less reliable but more powerful melee one, and a ranged one. We'd have at least one Posture Down attack (two if you get Suppression Fire). We'd have Agitate Shot, and Disarm shot for PvE and PvP respectively.

Our role would be nimbility. We'd dart around and while we couldn't apply many states, we could Knockdown targets reliably, at range and in Melee, we would have two unique and powerful specials, one for PvE and PvP, and our Damage Quotient would be relatively the same: We'd would be reaching the speed cap faster as we went up the tree, and would be dealing less Damage then Rifleman or Carbineers, but we'd be much faster than them at a Lower Level.

Not going to happen. Carbines are the range weapon of crowd control. Carbineer has the states, the dizzy, and the KD. Bounty Hunter Carbines has the dizzy and the KD and the stun. Devs aren't just going to decide to turn pistoleer in the crowd control class.
