Hey!! I'm hoping you guys can give me some constructive feedback on a question I have.
I recently Mastered TKA with my alt character (got tired of my main Master Doc/Merchant char being a tad too easy to kill), and now am looking for a good ranged profession to pair effectively with it. Not having any real prefences either way, I had thought I was going to go Pistoleer. However, since then I have heard several people either suggest that Rifleman would be a better way to go, or even automaticlly assume that I would be going Rifleman before I said otherwise, then acting with surprise when I said I wasn't. My question is this: Leaving all predjuditial stances out of the equation (i.e. I like to not hear "Well I'M a rifleman so it's the best" etc...), WHY should I be a rifleman? I want to hear reasons for, I'd like to reasons against. Maybe so of you who have been both can tell me pros and cons? Comparisons? Notable weaknesses? Strengths? I'm not necessarily looking for the best PvP template, because I'm not terribly into it. But by the same standard, I want to be prepared for it.
Tell me if I'm wrong in this assumption, but I had thought that Rifleman would lose a great deal of their effectiveness in close-combat, whereas Pistoleer, while it may not have as devastating attacks (again, this is all assumption on my part), seemed like it might be more well-rounded for both close and distance combat.
What are YOUR thoughts? Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm currently a TKM/Pistoleer(1-4-4-4) working on TKM/Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler and I previously had TKM/Master Rifleman. Now, I'm not sure how much better Master Pistoleer currently is compared to where I'm at, but I certainly know that I was much more powerful with Rifleman than with Pistoleer. The damage output is not even remotely close, and the ability to target the mind is a huge difference. I'm still happy with my choice to switch to Pistoleer, but I made the switch due to the Combat Revamp that we all thought was coming soon. How foolish of me to think that it would happen in a timely manner....
So, IMO, Rifleman is the way to go, you'll have melee def and ranged def in the 100's plus you'd be pumping out some incredible damage in ranged and melee combat, with the ability to target the mind in either situation if you wanted to.

I agree, if you want straight power then I would choose Rifle. I chose pistol instead cause, well, I like the look and play of pistols as they go good with my character. Yes the combat balance may fix it all so take that into consideration as well. Though not very powerful at master pistoleer as a master rifleman, many times I get guild mates saying, "man kylos you're actually good for a pistoleer". Basically just see what you enjoy using more and choose that one. It's all about having fun remember.
