I'm a Master Doctor who just hit Novice Pistoleer again after taking 6 months off SWG. Back when I left, the DX2 couldn't hit the side of a barn. Now I've read and read and read and everything is either a very old post, or so full of contradictions that I'm not getting anywhere.

Scout Blaster

FWG5

DX2

Those were the big pistols when I played before, except for the DX2 completely sucking on accuracy. I typically used a Scout Blaster and the FWG5 whenever there was a resist issue, and the DX2 if I just absolutely needed AP.

Now I'm looking at the weapons again, getting ready to buy new weapons (used a speed-sliced DH17 to get to novice, it worked). Now the Scout Blaster looks okay still, blisteringly fast as usual, good damage, and low HAM costs. Since I'm a doctor HAM is typically a non-issue though, I'm always fully buffed. The FWG5 I always liked a lot, except for thehigher HAM, which I don't have to worry about now. The DX2 I liked, but it was so inaccurate I never used it unless I ran into something with Armor and resists that I just had no choice about.

Now there's this new Republic Blaster (new to me anyway) with AP1 and great damage it seems--but the HAM costs are massive. The Tangle Pistol was kind of... okay... for me--can anyone fill me in on it's value? I'd like to pick up a gun for each damage type really, and I wouldn't mind having an AP1 weapon. But is the DX2 any better than it used to be?

No the DX2 is still worthless due to the fact that it requires 5 krayt tissues to make and you'll be hard pressed to find one for a decent price with good damage because of this.

Atm the guns you want to use are either a republic blaster or a Geo pistol(new lootable schem that weaponsmiths can make). If you can find an old pre-nerf fwg5 they are good to use also but are becoming more rare by the day. Hope this helps.

It depends on targets, but I mostly use my FWG5 or my Republic Blaster. When buffed, HAM costs are nothing...

If you don't get buffed, start. You'll make your money back on one or 2 missions at the absolute most and it will keep you from having so much downtime and get youout there earning more XP.

EDIT: Just saw that you stated you're a Master Doctor. Soooo, HAM costs shouldn't be that much trouble to you

A well made and nicely damage-sliced DX2 can be a powerful weapon to keep in your bag. If you hunt the geonosian caves you will find most of them have acid vulnerability. DX2 is also AP1 (as is the republic blaster). I would say the must-have pistols starting out would be a DX2, Republic Blaster, and an FWG5 (prenerf if you can find one). If you can afford Krayt Weaponry you can, obviously, get a better version of the Republic Blaster or the DX2. Those three weapons (with their 3 damage types) will get you through most fights.

I would also advise getting a Geonosian pistol (smith made, the loot ones are largely garbage) if you can afford it, as it will give you a powerful stun weapon too. But the three standard pistols can all be bought for reasonable prices.

I personally carry a prenerf FWG5, a Krayt DX2, a standard DX2, a Krayt Republic Blaster, a Krayt Metal DL44 (I'm a smuggler, have to have that), and a Geonosian Blaster. BE PREPARED.

LOL wow that's an arsenal alright!

Well, I picked up a pair of FWG5s to start off with (my girlfriend and I are both Doctor/Pistoleers). The FWG5 is sliced (we're neutral, don't care about slicing), and they are both 84-237/2.0. Paid 12000 credits for each of them, did we get ripped? Seemed like a decent buy. I've only seen a few DX2s--they can be made without Krayt Tissue, right? I don't need Krayt weaponry yet, I don't have a ton of money and I'm not that worried about it. I just need to know if the DX2 still sucks for accuracy, that was the problem before.

I figured the FWG5 is heat/ap0, a DX2 acid/ap1, and I'd look into other guns if I found myself wishing I had another damage type. Regardless, thanks for all the heads up, and just need last question on the DX2 accuracy problems answered.

No, you got a fair deal on those FWG5s. The DX2 accuracy has been fixed, just make sure you get one made recently (after the fix). Shop around a few places and see what constitutes good accuracy on your server. They can be made without Krayt, and make a solid weapon at that. The other must have piece is a republic blaster. Expect to spend between 15-25k for good versions of each of those two pistols.
