Even as master pistoleer now. I use health shot a ton instead of fan shot. Just so I don't attract that unwanted attention.

Not to mention it's health specific. I find most of the time I kill far faster with healthshot2 than fanshot

If you're going after quenkers, they do have a heat resist. Might want to try a republic or a geonosian if you can get ahold of one, rather than an FWG5. But yeah, I've found that the quenkers are the best solo grinding material around. They're fairly tough without buffs though. Might wanna downgrade to torturs if you find them tricky.

Ok, really I just wanted your attention as I have asked this question a few times before and got no response i figured this time you guys may look.
Simple. I am working my way through pistoleer now and just wanted some real simple input as far as what skills are currently the most useful and which weapons (pve mostly).

You want Fanshot. Use Healthshot (powerful) and Roll Shot (fast) a lot until then.
Get some FWG5's and go after Savage Quenkers on Dantooine. 6800-7000 credit missions - 18k xp or so when soloed. Once you get FanShot, it takes you less than 2 minutes to clear a lair.

I'm leveling up pistoleer too, currently 0,4,2,1. I open with /bodyshot1 /bodyshot2 (bleeds) /healthshot2, then use /healthshot2 and /doubletap. I almost always try a /meleedefense1 (pistolwhip) when the beast gets to me and if it falls over I spam about 3 /doubletaps or /healthshot2's depends on my HAM.
All of those specials seem to work...its either that or I dont really understand what theyre supposed to be doing. All in all I think pistolwhip is cool enough to justify keeping the pistoleer line ...I lovethat. Just knock over a monster some time when you are grouped and watch the damagechange that you and the rest of your group does to the monster. Its really cool.
I dont know strictly speaking if this is the right way to do things but it seems to work and doesnt eat up too much HAM. Im a doctor too so actually the HAM thing is kinda a non-issue, not because of buffs but because of heals (still a novice doc so my buffs are about equal to really good food buffs at the moment).

Bah to 18k exp a mission. Do like the lamers do and afk macro the SM fort on the hill. 12k XP per minute...the creatures dont shoot back...and you can leave your comp and go eat or toke or something. My "friend" mastered pistoleer here in 1.5 days(and this was not even doing it constantly). Even with the CSRs coming by occasionally and teleporting you to town, or killing you(cant believe that fcker did that me...err my "friend")it still goes really fast.

I might note, use double tap when you get it, and then fanshot on them. Please also consider the AFK macro shot =).

I did the quenker missions and those worked out great. Nice XP per animal as well. Dantooine is one of the easiest planets to find a doc selling buffs. Also if you're buffed don't hit with any bleed shots because the XP you get seems to always be less than if you do straight bodyshot, fanshot, or stoppingshot combos. It is a good idea to carry some brandy if you don't have a mind buff as well. Those little dudes like taking a bite on of your head.
