Thread: Do Pistoleers really suck this bad at PVP?

For the most part Ireally have not gotten involved in the PvP aspect of the game, other than a couple of large group fights. However, last night this guy asked me to kill him to get rid of his overt standing to which I agreed. I was embarassed beyond words, it took me forever to even dent his HAM bars. Granted he had some armor on,but after afashion he tookit off as it was taking way to long asit was. I tried every pistol in my inventory, Geo, FWG, Scout, DX2, Mod Republic, spaming my best shots into him and the best damage I got on him maybe was around 300. I am a pretty decent pistoleer too, right now I am 1-3-4-3. My pistols while not the most awesome ever, I always though weren't that shabby either. I can't recall all of their stats off the top of my head, but they aren't bad pistols.

Is there somthing that I am doing really wrong out there in the PVP world? Any suggestions from the masters out there? I love the concept of the pistoleer and would love to stick with it, I would just hate to have to stay out of the PVP arena to do it,.

If you are not Master pistoleer and another proffession suck as Master Pistoleer/ Rouge or BH pistols then don't PVP. From the looks of your message and I just skimmed through it so I may be wrong you were not using a Genosian Sonic Blaster ... if you are not using that gun then don't PVP, any good pvp'er has armor with resists of 70% and up to anything you are using on him. The Genosian uses Stun and no one has more then 30% or maybe a little higher resust to that.

I have both pistoleer and smuggler, like lots of people and it is a fact that there are few other professions as week as we are in PvP.

A couple months ago I did the same thing you did, someone asked me to kill him. While I could barely do any damage to him, I nearly killed myself with the HAM costs (since I was unbuffed.)

We have low dmg, low acc and only few useful specials, but PvP is about more than that, so every once in a while I manage to kill full buffed BH/pistoleer, TKM or Carbineers or even Rifleman, even without doc buffs (with double brandy, muon and meditate and I get up to 2.9k mind, and having a 36% stun helmet helps.) I learned a lot about PvP from these boards in fact, there are some really good tactics. I think the most important thing is to be prepared and to think what you do. Think about stuff like, would I have a chance to KD my enemy (considering his defense vs. KD value), does he use a stun armor, should I use Dodgefood/KDfood, when to use spices, stuff like that.

I still lose a lot of 1on1 fights, but this stuff changed at least that I was killed all the time. I guess if you are full time PvP and get some additional defenses from fencer for example, pistoleer CAN be strong. (Look for MCPrimeTime(?)'s post, it seems he knows a lot about these things. )

As previously stated pistoleer is one of the gimpiest PvP professions. You can make a pistoleer character that can hold its own in PvP if you do some defensestacking and have enough credits for very good equipment.

I've been a pistoleer since the start of the game so when I decided to PvP I didn't want to drop it for rifleman/CM and in the process be like the majority of PvPer's. You need good sliced stun armor and a nice krayt geo blaster so if you can't afford these two things pick another profession to PvP with.

I'm Master Pistoleer,0040 smuggler,4004 TKA,3440 fencer, novice medic. I have a 400 dam .9 spd geo blaster and my helm (for a example)is 39%stun 85% everything else. I also have alot of credits in skill tapes.

I'm concidered a very good PvPer but still the lack of a mind attack and the low AP of the pistols we have limits me alot. Due to theexpense of the equipment (compare geo blaster and jawa rifle prices sometime)unless you have alot of credits, being really good in PvP would be very hard to do.

The best part is that when you do kill people you cantake more pride in it.

It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If you're just Master PIstoleer, try to find a Sonic Blaster faster than 1.3 speed and spam stopping shot. You'll be suprised how much damage gets through. If you can pick up the pistol tree of Smuggler, even better since you get Last Ditch. However, if you get the pistol tree of Bounty Hunter, you'll rock out with eye shot. Of course, this is all dependant on you having good armor, a nice stun helmet, and a pretty nice gun.

We are so weak in PVP, the other day I got killed by a chef using only his spatula.

/lol

Now crying because my pistols can't do any damage to any decent armor.

I'm master pistoleer, and I've just started up the pistols tree in BH. Eyeshot, with a Geo Sonic rocks! I've beaten 2 full BH's and a rifleman in PVP recently. Last Ditch etc (smuggler tree) are overrated. Eyeshot is so much better than anything in the smuggler tree - even though just getting to BH robs all of your skills points. The only downside is the lack of defence, but good armor (stun) and foods can help a lot.

Hopefully the combat balance will change things (rolls his eyes) but it seems like the only pistol that'll even dent anyone in pvp is the geno pistol. doesnt seem very fair that us pistoleers all have to use the same gun in pvp while rifleman and carbineers get a wide variety of choices. I hate sounding like whiner, but sometimes I think they should rename our profession GIMPOLEER.

Funny, that's what I call it in guildchat all the time.

As much as I hate dabbling, I think that I'm going to do it for the first time since I've started... I wanna PvP a bit I think, but I don't want to go FOTM to do it, I really like packing pistols...
Pistoleer 0304 [Accuracy and Speed, no need for Stopping Shot]
Smuggler 0040 [Pistols line, Last Ditch]

All other skillpoints are sunk into Master Doc, which is not an option for surrender.

not as bad as you think, right now the only problem i have is with people who are ___/doc template (which is the majority of thepeople inpvp lol) in which they heal all my damage (i'm tkm/pistoleer/rouge/3-0-4-0 fencer) since i can't use eyeshot from bh. my defense is phenomenal. against people with doc i have to resort topanicshot, low blow, last ditch, run in for intimidate, warcry, blind, and unarmedheadhit from tka (i know my pistoleer skills becomes passive since i'm only using rouge and tka skills, fairly upsetting and i have to time my specials perfectly, which makes my template requires some skills to play instead of spamming one special over and over). but like i said anyone one who is not some sort of medic, it's panicshot lowblow, last ditch, spotting shot, and hs2.
