Here's what I am working towards, should have this template finished by the end of the weekend.
Master Pistoleer
Commando 0040
Smuggler 0040
TKA 0004
Medic 2000
I had this template before, minus TKA with the rest of my skill points into Medic. It was a lot of fun for mostly pve with occasional pvp. I was able to solo krayts and ns elders (commando burn), and take down turrets with ease(last ditch with launcher pistol). Optionally you could drop smuggler and take TKA up to 4004.
I'm stubborn and determined to stick with pistoleer until at least after the combat revamp.

You can do Master Pistoleer/Master Commando/TKA 3/0/0/0 or Master Pistoleer/Master TKA/ Commando 0/0/3/0 what every you do you will not have any points left over. Hopes this helps.

TKA 0004
Medic 2000
Holy cow, that's identical to my planned template for an alt character I have. So it's good you say?
Well, back on topic...
If you're going to do a commando hybrid, then I suggest just getting the Flame line from commando. Truth be told, the HAR sucks, Thrown weapon suck, and heavy wepons suck, and a Master Commando isn't THAT much better than just a shock trooper. Certainly not worth the skill points, especially if you want to get some TKA.
Master Pistoleer is a total of 92 skill points, getting to commando would be another 77. Novice commando and the falme tree is another 20. Tha's 189 points. You're two points short of TKM. Either drop flame 4 and master TKA, which will probably hurt yourFT skills a lot, or don't master TKA. If you plan on using TK alot, than do 4/4/4/3, if not, then I'd do 4/4/3/4.

What has been alreasy said is true... all that is needed in comando is the flamethrower specials. Setting things on fire is the very nice and allows you to take out bigger and better prey. I just dropped the flame specials and I am scared to go fight things now.... blast damage from the scatter pistol is also very nice and you can use all the pistoleer specials with it.
On big tough prey I would just stick a flame dot on it and then use pistoleer(I actually use smuggler dirty fighting instead of pistoleer specials.. buthave master pistoleer to get all of the accuracy, dodge, and speed) to slowly take it out.
