First of all, anyone know a better character builder than allakhazam's right now? I can't get in game for a while so I'm not sure if this has the best pistol lines.


I was playing around on allakhazam and came up with this all-around template for PvP, PvE, and turret killing. Currently a triple master and want to keep my PvE abilities, so TKM is kinda' necessary in this, right?.


Smuggler 0040- It'll hurt a bit to give up master, and all, but all I really want is last ditch. IF I could get 2040 that'd be even better, I love only losing 22fp each timeI die. The extra mitigations frmo this line are nice too.


Novice Commando - launcher pistol, all you need for those turrets.Are there any pistol specials in commando?


Here's the rub:

TKM - I love PvE against higher mobs, combat balance won't be for a bit, so I could have a bit of fun for the time being.

BUT

Pistoleer 4234 - Even with +25 in speed skill tapes last ditch'll be pretty slow. So should I master this and drop to TKA 4234? I'd really like to hit the speed cap, or nearly so with last ditch on the launcher pistol so I can take a turret down really quickly. Maybe a krayted, speed sliced launcher could do it?

Ok, found a better char builder. What about TKM, Master Pistoleer, Commando (with three boxes up one line)?



Decided that last ditch wasn't worth it when I can have fan shot and stopping shot at just about the speed cap with +25 speed in tapes. Anyone know what the cap on kd defense is? If I take 3000 commando I'll have +75 d vs kd, and can get another +25 in tapes if necessary. Heard it was around 90 from someone.

I recommend getting master pistoleer/ bh pistols. You are good at pve, not as good though as tkm , commando, or heavy swords cause they are pve gods. But you will be so much better in pvp. The only thing that commando is good for in pvp is shooting at a at-st or turrets, against other toons the torso shot works alot better then any of the flamer specials lol. I dont know the difference of the DoT but simply you land torso almost everytime. If you want you can stack a couple bleeds and then just eyeshot spam away. With the added terrain navigation bonuses you get from scout you can own the melee fighters in an open area. Against uber melee fighters lowblow doesnt seem to work very well and since eyeshot hits mind, you immediatly have an advantage. If the person you are fighting has mind buffs with muon and psg's then you are dead period. Pistoleer jsut doesnt do enough dps to make a dent in them. Basically if you want to be great in pve then go with tkm,master pistols and commando, pvp though go bh pistols and master pistoleer.

I was thinking of doing something like this myself. I'm still not sure taking up commando would be worthwhile for the pointage though since you have to master marksman. The extra +5 speed would be nice though.

Sorry but this only works against non serious pvpers or if you have a lot of help. I have thoroughly tested this and I love pistols but right now in pvp defenses is king. Torso shot is really only an annoyance to a decent pvper and the the bleeds are a joke. You cant hit a fencer cob'ing with rifle ranged and melee defences plus mitigation. I had 168 accuracy and +37 on the move with a 420 scatter. Your bane is posture down dizzy and ranged defence at about 30.


Im going back tomy old template - master rifle, master pistol, DF 4 with tka 4-0-0-3. Then you can stack stun with intimidate and stay on your feet against those pesky dizzy posture change kd'rs. You can take the fencer down pretty good too because he cant do any damage and you can actually hit him.


I hate saying this cause I love pistols but if you are serious about pvp and you like pistols then this is what I have found works nicely..

Well for the character builder try this http://swgcb.yogn.net/swg-cb.php It actually tells you what skill mods and skills you get too. And you can just click on end result you want, and it fills all prereq. Like click on TKM and it fills in novice brawler, 4 in unarmed, and all of TK for you.


As for the combo, I have a guy in my guild did similar. He did master pistoleer, TKM, and master smuggler. Pretty cool in PvP he said Had good defences with TK and pistoleer, ranged KD and a couple of other goodies from smuggler. The pistol speed and accuracty from pistoleer, and a couple good specials. He said that smuggler is crappy for pistols with out pistoleer though. Not enough accuracy and speed. And he can switch from ranged to melee, and be just as effective more or less. Obviously more effective, esp PvE, with TKM. Sad but true.


Your twist on this with commando sounds decent. I thought of master pistoleer, smuggler pistols, BH pistols, and novice commando so you can use the launcher. High offence there, but not so good defence. The TKM gives you the defence. And meditate

Yeah, I'm currently a triple master. Smuggler brings in a steady income, TKM is great for loot hunting (namely NS for their attachments, got a +13 d vs kd I'm rather proud of) and Pistoleer is in there for ranged mitigation 3 and a ranged option in PvP. However I'm a) getting kinda' bored of it, slicing included, and b) hate turrets with a passion, which I need blast damage for.


Sooo, I think I'm settling on TKM, Master Pistoleer, Commando 3000. Gives all the mitigations, +79 pistol speed, +75 d vs kd, +105 dodge which I hope'll help when I'm using the launcher pistol against turrets, and all the damage types but elec and lightsaber.


I'm working on an "uber-suit" forPvP. 39% stun, 80%+ base comp. Then I can add attachments to cap out pistol speed, d vs kd, dodge, and some pistol accuracy. Only bad part of this template is +109 melee defense which can be capped, but only +72 ranged defense =/

For the template, thanks for the good ideas. I was thinking about getting Commando or BH to my Master Pistoleer as well, but I am not yet ready to drop my Doc. Somehow I am still to attached to it.

If you want to do blast damage, that's what those bomb droids are for. The R3s are particularly effective--and onlysmugglers and BHs, I believe, can use them.
