Here is a gun for everything and a couple all-purpose guns. I generally carry the featherweight FWG5 which is heat-based with a speed of about 1.2. For most PvE situations this works well and works exceptionally well on quenkers and Mokks in my opinion. Also work great with Thunes.

The Modified Republic Blaster is another good do-it-all choice, is energy-based, and a tad slower. I use this with HealthSHot2 often on any Huurtons that come my way and takes em down fairly quickly.

The genosonic Blaster is stun-based weapon and is a must-have for PvP. I have a looted less than average geno that I use on Bol pack runners and seething bol crushers . I think Bols are vuln to just about all damage type but I seem to take em quicker with the geno.

I have an old DH-17 Pistol with scope that is energy-based, has good speed and OK damage. . this is another multi-purpose pistol and for some reason works well on NPC Stormtroopers. Also seems to go well with Graul Maulers

The DX2 is acid-based and there are some creatures out there that are vulnerable to acid. I honestly rarely use this pistol but there are pistoleers out there that swear by it.

These are what I use and there will be others who disagree with my assessments. But we all get comfortable with certain guns and like to use them. Like my DH-17 pistol. . .i get laughed at often when I wield that, but hey, to each their own. . .

Just examine each creature before you attack it and see what it is vulnerable to and match your weapon damage type to that vulnerability.

I use my DX2 almost exclusively... I don't like the in-game model much (I think they look like hairdryers, but it's my best pistol. I posted a picture up here somewhere of a drawing on the original DX2 and DXR6 models, but I'm too lazy to look for it (much sleeker, compact look, no trigger gaurd).

I do have a very nice Scout Blaster though, great speed, excellent damage (believe it or not), low HAM costs... I've got a DH-17 pistol that I carry mostly for looks and PvE (in my opinion the DH17 is a very cool looking blaster, always been a personal favorite, since the Rebel troopers used them on the CorvetteinA New Hope).I also have aFeatherweight FWG5 butI actually use itthe least... but like trajen2 said, "to each their own".

I haven't gotten my hands on a Geonosian Stun Blaster yet, but I never PvP anyway,so it's not a real priority for me.

There are very few "good" pistols and a LOT of mediocre ones:

The Republic Blaster (or Modified Republic Blaster) is the best general-usepistol for PvE, in my opinion. Even though it does energy damage and tends to bea bit slower than the FWG5, it has AP1 and also a higher max damage than any other type of pistol. You can find non-krayt Rep Blasters sliced to 260+ damage, with 2.6 average speed. This gun also has the best range modifiers of any pistol: no penalties, even at max range of 64m. Do not use this pistol in PvP, since both armor and PSGs stack resists agains energy.

The DX2 is another weapon with AP1, but thisone does acid damage. Your high-end non-krayt DX2s will cap out at around 210 damage (sliced) and 2.6 speed. This weapon is very useful against critters vulnerable to acid, but beware the low accuracy at longer ranges and high HAM cost of specials. If you can't afford a sonic, this is your best choice for PvP: this weapon has AP1 and, while PvP-grade composite will have a high acid resist, acid damage bypasses PSGs entirely. In some instances of PvP-grade armor and PSGs, a DX2 may even do MORE damage than a sonic, but this assumes maxed out stun resists on both armor and PSG.

Geonosian Sonic Blaster: What more can be said? The only worthwhile stun pistol (forget the tangle pistol, its damage is laughable), the Sonic blaster is a very good choice for most PvP; the damage from a non-krayted sonic rivals that of the Republic blaster, and it will slice through non-stun composite like swiss cheese. However, with the advent of high-stun resist armor and PSGs, the is not as useful as it once was. Geonosian Sonic Blasters have always had a few drawbacks, namely a sub-par maximum range (48m), lack of AP, and horribly accuracy at anything less than point-blank, but these are magnified with the proliferation of high-end armor.(Side note: even with Master Pistoleer, I manage to miss defense stackers two out of every three shots.) The up-side to all of this is that Sonics are still GREAT in many PvE situations. Even if a creature has light armor, if it has no stun resists at all the armor does not reduce the Sonic's damage in the slightest. In any case, the Sonic is a valuable addition to any pistoleer's arsenal, but oftentimes costs too much to justify its low effectiveness in PvP. (Another side-note: ALL pistols have low effectiveness in PvP when wielded by someone who is Master Pistoleer only.)

FWG5: Not a bad gun, and it does heat damage. However, the lack of AP seriously hamstrings its effectiveness, even if the damage would normally be roughly equal to that of a DX2. The "Featherweight" version of the FWG5 makes up for this by adding skill mods to accuracy and one or two others which I can't recall offhand. Against heat vulnerable creatures, the Featherweight FWG5 is still a valuable tool, but you'll usually get equal or greater results with a Republic Blaster.

The Striker Pistol is our onlykinetic damage-type weapon. Its damage is sub-par and it has no AP, so it is rarely useful. Still, it's worth mentioning because you will occasionally find it useful against kinetic-vulnerable mobs. (This is assuming you can actually find a good damage striker to begin with.)

All of the other pistoleer pistols are not worth mentioning, except the DE-10. Having no personal experience with that pistol (I'm not going to fry a whole suit of armor just to get the damned schematic and a barrel, thank you very much - especially since I'd have to use my Swordsman skills and not my Pistoleer ones to even inflict damage to anything there), I can't say yea or nay as to whether it's effective or not. I *can* tell you it has light AP and does energy, has high damage but extremely slow speed.

Hope this helps.

ok, here the guns that I use:

DX2: 128-204, 2.2 speed. My default gun in PvE usually. AP1 (+25% damage against Mobs without armor rating), most critters have low Acid resist

Geonosian: 148-248. 2.2 speed. Stun damage, no AP, 48m max range. Its a looted gun, above average i'd say, my main gun in PvP. If i see that enemy uses PSG+Stun Armor (because i hit for 300 damage but only about 20 go away ), i switch to my DX2, which bypasses the PSG completely and only deals with the 70% of the Armor. Sometimes use it to kill enemies with Stun vulnerabitiy but high resists to Acid, Heat and energy in PvE.

FWG5: 81-278 (not 100% sure about the min damage, but something around that)1.8 speed. Not the featherweight version, a normal one. Use them against Heat vulnerable critters or against Lairs sometimes

Scout Blaster: 97-195, 1.6 speed. fast gun, good damage, but not AP and energy damage, but ridiculous low HAM costs. My pistol of choice when i'm unbuffed.

Modified Republic Blaster: 79-248, 2.4 speed. Energy damage, AP1... in most cases worse than the DX2, but better at long ranges (but against critters I barely miss even at 64m with the DX2 at Master Pistoleer)

Thats the pistols I carry with me all the time. Got a Striker somewhere, but never used it so far.

All the values are WITHOUT powerup, i don't use any for PvE (they wear of too fast), for PvP i use 33% max, 16% min damage Powerups.

i use tons of pistols

i have like three or four DX2's i switch through, but i find i use them less and less lately

i have a featherweight FWG5 but i rarely use that as well

geo pistol which i end up using a lot, but hate to because it decays so much lol

modified republic blaster which i use with pointblankarea1 and fanshot to bleed a lot of mobs at once, it's really fun

a krayt-enhanced scout blaster.... really fun against unarmored mobs or energy-vulnerable ones

i also have a few striker pistols that were custom-made with hyper feed mechanisms (two are speed 1.6 and one is 245 max damage) but these are mostly for looks but do have their uses

i also have a few DE-10's which have found their way into combat quite a lot, they're my favorite right now
