I been playing this game for a few moths but have never really gone up my combat tree, so I decided I would try to Master it as fast as possible now. I want to be Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer for JtLS.

So to level up fast, I want to do the following:

  1. Take Savage Quenkers missions on Dantooine.

  2. Get conetic Kinetic-layered Ubese armour (Any infor you can give me on armour would be good cos I have never used any).

  3. Get full Doc Buffs which last 3 hours.

  4. I am not sure which Pistol I want, I curently have a DX-2.

I would also like to know how much money I will need for this. Also would it be good to buy an LE-Repair Droid to tank for me?

1. First off, if you're going to be on Dant and you already have novice Pistoleer, I think Huurton Howler missions are the best at 65k experience per mission. Just keep refreshing the terminals until you see missions that pay out 10k. Before I had FanShot, I just spammed PointBlankArea1 on their lair and was able to kill very quickly (no need for pet/droid tank).

2. I am using 80% Kinetic composite and fully buffed, I rarely take noticeable damage when I fight. When I do, I often have the damage regenerated by the end of combat. I've never used a good suit of Ubese, but I hear they get 70% Kinetic resistance, which is fine for PvE (especially if you get it sliced).

3. Never ever do these missions without Doc buffs, Brandy, and Canapes. In fact, just don't do anything without buffs. I want to see you buffed while getting buffs, dammit.

4. I always carry a DX-2, FWG5, Scout Blaster, and Geonosian. If I know I'm going to be out for a while, I'll bring a pair. Check the damage types on the pistols against the weaknesses of what you are hunting--For Huurtons, you'd be using the DX-2 because they have no Acid resists.

To add to Rivern's comments (good advice by the way) here are some general tips for leveling.

1. Always group. Even if you just group with a droid and leave it somewhere, you get a weapons xp bonus of 25% I believe. It makes a significant difference.

2. Use a player city. Preferably one with an improved job market. In addition to a higher payout, you an get missions that will spawn from 450m - 1000m of the terminal. Less travel equals more missions equals more credits and xp.

3. I would opt for speed powerups -- especially if leveling. Stopping shot is a great special but rather slow -- even with the +74 speed of master pistoleer. Fan Shot is great for running PvE missions but you will have to hit techniques IV for that.

Since you are leveling smuggler also, I would recommend as soon as you can, train the stances boxes. Those are combat xp and won't eat up your pistol xp. It also gives you much needed speed.

Train at least a box or two of marksmanship before going up dirty fighting. Smuggler's are notoriously inaccurate.

Grab feign death to use as a lifesaver in PvE. In fact, I would probably get feign death before I finish any full line of pistoleer.

Last Ditch is an effective replacement for stopping shot. Stopping shot is 5x damage and Last Ditch is 6x damage. For most of what you want to do in PvE, stopping shot will be great but Last Ditch will help finish off the mob a bit faster.

As tempting as it may be, do Underworld last.

As for which pistol to use, your best all-around bet is the Repbulic blaster. You get no range penalties, even at 64 (a godsend when you have to run away from mobs while you shoot at them, allowing you to accurately attack from further away), AP1, and, even though it does energy damage, about 50 more base damage than any other pistol (you can find damage-sliced non-krayt Rep Blasters that do 260+ damage). For grinding, attach a speed powerup to one of these babies and go to town. Just be aware that you cannot use a MODIFIED Republic blaster until Techniques 2, though the base model is available with Novice Pistoleer. The difference between the two is that the Modded version has a built-in health bleed - which isn't great anyway.

Well the way i have been grinding is just buffing at ancohead and heading to Fort Tuskan and just kill until it hurts. I started in the morning and by late afternoon i had 3 skill boxes.

This is my cheaper way of going to dath or dant i find it just as good but the money is a bit weak

Well if you do decide on the dantooine missions, The easiest to kill seems to be quenkors, not Savage quenkors. On bria they cost about 5100. They die so fast as does there layer. I was leveling rifle for the second time and I could not believe the difference. You get 3100 a pop for them and they go down in about 30 seconds at novice.

If you are strong enough, endor simply rocks. Its a non stop battle fest. Seems I run out 800m or less and layers drop from the sky. I finish one and run to another..

Endor is usually a BAD idea as a pistoleer. Lot of critters around with extremely high resists and even medium armor...and they inflict lots of damage, too.
