Thread: Dodge and defense question

I have seen some pistoleers ask some questions about the LP on the Commando forums so I figured I could ask a few questions here.

I have been a master commando / TKM for some time now with scout for the harvesting ability, but recently decided to drop scout to pick up pistoleer. However, many people in my guild and on the boards are having arguments on a certain subject in the pistoleer line.


My first question is with the pistoleer dodge. Going up 3000 in pistoleer gives a +60 to dodge, however I have not been able to get a difinitive answer as to whether I have to have a pistol equiped to gain this bonus. It seems to be generic, much like the ranged and melee defenses, and the same as what fencer gets so I thought that I didnt need a pistol equiped. However, other have said that they thought it does. Can anyone here give a difinitive answer on this subject?


The second question is also split between the people that I have talked to; should I pick up the state defenses or the dodge bonuses? (This is of course only if dodge still applies even though i have another weapon equiped) Remember, I can only go up 3 boxes in pistoleer and that means I will get no bonuses to prevent KD, but I will get the Def vs Dizzy bonus.


Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The dodge skill mod will only work if you are holding a pistoleer or fencer weapon.


The state defenses from pistoleer are pretty nice, and apply even when you are holding a flamer, etc. I would take that tree instead. Plus you get the ability to use the geno blaster IIRC.

dodge works with whatever weapon you have out. i was master pistoleer, master commando. i dropperd down to pistol 3000 andTKM commando, i still dodge alot mot than just aTKM.

i think dodge, counterattack, and block all work for TKs.
