I have almost Mastered the Pistoleer proffession

currently 2-4-4-4

As a Master Pistoleer and Master Smuggler, doi want damage or speed sliceson my pistols?

I mostly just PvE using a DX2.

What is most usefull a Damage or Speed sliced DX2 ?

Same question for a Republic Blaster (i have a 34% damage one of these )

Yhanks for any views on this, as i am fairly inexperienced as a pistoleer and dont really know what is most usefull to us

Always damage, there are much better ways to get the speed cap then sacrificing 25-35% off all of your guns.

I dont have skll attachments for speed at the moment.

As a M.Pistoleer / M.Smuggler with no speed enhancements, is Damage still preferable?

The reason i ask , i keep reading that we really need more speed to be effective.

So i thought maybe a high Speed sliced weapon would be usefull also.

Yes. Speed isnt the issue with pistoleer its damage. At Master your plenty speedy. The pistoleer is now and always has been a bit crippled by DPS when related to the other elite proffs, our weapons are natively faster than thiers but our damage is lower. Speed is great on the way up but as high as you are damage slice is better.

Having said that, slicing is totally random, sometimes you get what you want other times you dont. As a pistoleer this is in your favor as our general weapons are very cheap. Just buy several and slice till you get what your looking for.

At Master Pistoleer and with the BH pistols line, I can cap speed using a 5.0 speed pistol (not that i've seen one that bad!).

with just Master pistol you need a gun speed around 2.2 I believe to cap. If the weapon is close to this pre-slice than why bother sacrificing dmg for it?

The only special I've noticed REALLY needs the speed is /lastditch, and it's not ours. If you have DF4 then you might want to think about a speed sliced gun, but once you master it really is a short hop to the speed cap. ( I have a DOT FWG with a 4.0 speed and I can wield it pretty effectively at master pistol if I stick to pistoleer specials. I only have a total of +8 pistol speed from attachments)

Drop a few bucks on some +pistol speed SEA's and yer golden. As Koth said it's much easier to find those than to add dmg to a speed sliced gun.

Damage all the way then! I am happy with my 34% Damaged sliced modified republic blaster now

mmm time to correct some VERY wrong info you just got.

M pistoleer gives you 74 pistol speed, which in turn means you need a 1s pistol to use stoppingshot at the speedcap...

so unless you pick up A LOT of extra speed from tapes or BH pistols a SPEEDslice will give you much higher DPS

just look for yourself at the DPS calculator at www.killyourpc.org/swg

one of my guildies didn't believe me either...untill I showed him my 1.4s 191 max geo severely outdamaged his 370max

great link you included there BloodMonk,

After messing round with some figures in that calculator, it would appear there is a split decision - with Speed Slices winning on points

Fan Shot and Last Ditch are both more effective with a Speed sliced weapon, although an old favourite of mine - Health Shot2, is better when fired from a Damaged sliced weapon.

This has really opened up a whole new thing for me, thanks for all the replies

If you are a master pistoleer and master smuggler like me and you only have 74 pistol speed then a speed slice can actually help a good amount. Do the math with the damage calculators and you do see what works best for you.

For us just masterpistoleers with 74 pistol speed andno expensive SEA's, speed or damage slicescan help.

Dont forget you can use power ups to boot either one, Myself i perfer a damage slice and use a speed PUP. I can drop all but a DX2 down to under 2 speed. My speed sliced DH17 down to 1.1 (if i remember right)

If you dont have speed cap, the a speed or a dmg slice on the same gun will do the same dmg.

But a speed slice will cost you more ham.

But if you dont have speed cap and your shopping around for a weapon, you have to make some calculations.
