Thread: A response to the anti-dabblers
Dang.. no edit.
Anyways.. today I was accused of dabbling because I am a pistoleer and I am a medic.
I was accused that it was unfair that I had the skill points to spend and my oppenent did not.
Did I force him to be a Bounty Hunter? Did I force him to master 2 novice professions?
Did SOE force him to?
No. He choose to be a Bounty Hunter. If he don't like, he can change classes.
I spend my skill points how I want.. sorry.. I don't have to spend them they way you want me to.
Ummm... so why did theygivenames to theskill trees then?
Why is there a "master box" on top of each profession?
Why are there professions if everyoneis supposed to dabble anyway?
Why would anyone bother mastering combat professions if we all know that the Pistoleer / BH pistol template is the most powerful anyway?
If you only have 2 and are yelled at, I must be public enemy number 1. 5 different classes only 1 master, and I am in the progress of removing skills thoses trees in order to get a 6th class.

You are confusing mastery with power. Mastering 1 thing doesn't necessarily make you more powerful than having a bunch of skills and abilities at your disposal.
Moving vertically up abranch should take one to mastery of a specific area. Moving horizontally across multiple branches(aka dabbling when you cross professions) should grant you diversity. Diversity can deliver far more power than mastery. So if you want power, then dabble, if you want mastery then specialize. It's that simple.
Unfortunately the devs screwed up and made it so that some skills can only be mastered by dabbling, which was a horrible mistake.
And it's only fair to point out in a discussion about Mastery, that Pistoleers and Carbineers are the only 2 professions in the game that do not get to master anything, even by achieving their Master box. Sure they are very powerful, and they certainly don't need any more. But they haven't mastered anything substantial as there are other professions that use their weapons more skillfully.
