Thread: question for philosopher
hi, some time back someone did a trial about what part of the body is hit in what percentage. based on this information what pieces of armor would you recommend as most important ( most benefit for the encumbrance) since i cannot wear a full suit without buffs. thanking you in advance.
p.s. assume that the armor in question is composite and will be used only for pvp or against npc's.

Hey Gunner. The most interesting thing that the tests showed was that the most efficient thing to do when facing mobs (or anything spitting out random HAM damage, including random HAM player specials) was to wear gloves, bracers, etc. They get hit more often than the Chest, for some reason, even though the chestplate requires a lot more HAM to wear. So against NPCs you're probably best off wearing those ... although if you have strong medical skills you might want to consider a helmet for your mind. Just remember to take off the helmet before healing yourself! hehe
For PvP, I'd recommend a helmet and a chestplate because most players will be using targeted specials against you that hit one of those two body parts. A helmet is a must, to protect against EyeShot and rifle specials. If you find that you're being hit by random HAM attacks more than TorsoShot/HealthShot/BodyShot, then you can use the gloves/bracers along with the helmet instead of the chestplate.
I hope that is helpful.

I read sumthin about the hands etc not being hittable locations untill sumthin was equipped there. ( %50 dam reduction by bracer vs never being hit where the bracer would be.) Know anything about this?
No I don't. Actually there were some tests run a few weeks back that suggested the opposite ... that is what the original poster was referring to. You probably can find them by searching the forum.
hi philosopher, thanks for the reply, i have been using a helm and chest plate in pvp and it seems to work well. i will invest in some bracers and gloves for pve.
p.s. what about leggings and boots for pvp or pve? or will they completely destroy my ability to spam specials if i am not buffed.

Leggings are good if you are going up against Carbineers and Bounty Hunters who are firing LegShot at you while your action bar is low from spamming specials. Most of the time, though, Carbineers are using random HAM attacks and BHs are using pistol, unless they use their dizzy/KD carbine specials (which do not target leg). I probably wouldn't bother with the leggings unless you find it to be a problem on your server.
Love the Gunslinger reference...I based my char on Roland...
