Ok...I posted a long thread on the general discussion forum about what I consider to be the biggest problem with the pistoleer profession

Please read thoroughly before you respond, or don't bother responding at all

thank you

Ok...I wrote a longer post than I am going to put here, but here is the gist...

AND NO...I AM NOT CALLING FOR A NERF!!!

the biggest problem that pistoleer has as a profession is stacking of mods!

The reason for this is not that I think that dabbling is bad in any way, shape, or form...not by a long shot. I play a pretty diverse character myself (marksman, trickshot, master artisan, scout, expert armorsmith) and I love that about this game. HOWEVER there are some combinations that can be used that are simply overpowering in this game and should not be allowed to continue if we are ever to grow as a profession.

The pistoleer is the second most taken elite profession in the game currently. Why? Many reasons, but basically it boils down to this in my view...

Pistoleer is more easily combined with other professions!

It is true...plain and simple...

1) Smugglers : Gain no combat modifiers, but get great pistol specials. It is only natural that they take some pistoleer for some speed and accuracy (and maybe defenses? lol)

2) Commandos: Get launcher pistol but no combat mods...see above

3) Bounty hunters: Get incredible pistol specials and equivalent if not better mods than master pistoleers get for a single line in their tree -- fair enough, they are the combat masters

The problem comes into play not because of smugglers or commandos, but Bounty Hunters who take only the pistol line in BH and then take most or all of pistoleer

HEAR ME OUT!

Whether it is a BH taking pistoleer or a pistoleer taking BH is immaterial in this issue...the issue IS that the mods for BH pistol line should NOT stack with the pistol mods from pistoleer!

Why you ask?

Good question...the reason for this is that basically, if a person does this, they get insane modifiers to using a pistol, not to mention the best specials in the book (some people may argue last ditch and panic shot, but then again, I have seen a BH/Smuggler DF/Pistoleer as well)

Well, this is the way the game is designed, some may counter...I argue that it is a exploitation of the system (note...exploitation does not = exploit...read a dictionary)

The end result is this:

1) Pistoleers areone of the most common elite professions there are

2) People see what a BH/Pistoleer can do, find it insane, and blame it all on the pistoleers (don't even think about arguing on this with me...I have seen to many posts about how pistoleer should be nerfed because of A,B,C,D and none of it is doable by a regular master pistoleer

3) This results in pistoleer getting nerfed because of the large public outcry that the devs cannot/will not ignore

4) The devs will not work on fixing the pistoleer because 'it already is overbalanced' and if anything, needs to be toned down a little bit because of how incredibly powerful they are ROFLMAO!

5) I have even heard of bounty hunter tactics now getting master pistoleer, showing that tag, using DX2 or FWG5 instead of scatter pistol and go around blowing everything and everyone away and bragging about how nasty pistoleer is to try and get us nerfed further...if you don't believe me, there are posts about this tactic in the BH forum

6) This has just plain got to stop. It is unbalancing the game more than anything else out there that has anything remotely to do with our profession...for pistoleer to move forward, we cannot have the attack and speed mods stack between BH and pistoleer...period...enough is enough

Now, I doubt that our correspondent will back me up on this one, as he is a BH/Pistoleer himself, but we shall see...

Ok, now where's the obligatory flames and one-stars?

Oh, and if anyone would like to read my original post on the General Discussion board, here is the link:

Please keep in mind that it was written when I was very tired and had to make several clarifications as the thread went on to dispute 'points' people were trying to make by taking my words out of context

Thank you...I appreciate the support...I don't think anything will ever really get done with either profession until they are mutually exclusive skillwise (something simple like 'BH style pistol speed/accuracy' vs 'pistoleer style pistol speed/accuracy'

Then there will be much less bickering between BH and pistoleers (we can only hope) This solution would solve SO many problems in one fell swoop...and only take about 10 minutes to implement

Uhm...I appreciate that SOME people on the BH forum took it as a joke, but it seems to me that most took it as a joke that should be followed through...and many seemed not to take it with any humour at all and say 'hell yeah we should!' *sigh* -- this is the exact thread I am referring to, in case there is any dispute as to whether or not we are talking about the same thread
