Thread: (not really) Stopping Shot?

Uhh, its called stopping shot and is supposed to stop targets in its tracks but if it can't stop a quenker what's the use? Pistoleers do not have a dizzy attack so why not give them a ranged kd with stopping shot or maybe a really good forced posture change (down) attack? It seems to make sense that you're actually stopping something with Stopping Shot.

Not a flame but .....tell that to the devs. We ( pistoleers ) all know that.

I think the description says that it stops an opponent by killing or nearly killing them in one shot.....a dumb description unless you are fighting nooblet creatures

But yeah, I would love a kd or posture change with it....or maybe even just the stun state or something....

Smugglers already have a ranged knockdown pistol attack. I've asked for Stopping Shot to be a Posture Change Down so we don't tread on their territory... A momentary stopping effect would also work, but a posture change does the same thing and the coding is already there, along with the 30 sec timer that would be needed to keep it balanced.

We're supposed to be the best kiters (kiting is running away from a melee opponent without letting him get into range), so this fits with our skill set. We will truly be the most mobile ranged profession after the combat balance, when weapon size affects running speed.

Weapon size will affect running speed?!?!?! AWESOME! Finally physics are applied to the game! Oh...will armor affect running speed?

Maybe. I kind of hope so.. there would really be nothing wrong with 90% composite if it kept you from moving faster than a crawl or attacking with anything stronger than a tickle.
The only thing I've heard in the plan is weapon size. I'm not sure how drastic it will be, but it will add an interesting element to combat. And combat in this game could use some more interesting elements.

I just hope pistoleers don't become the new FOTM if the run speed ends up being the end all to combat (like mind damage is/was).

Yay!!

Thanks for the info (really great infos every day on these boards )

Weapon size influencing movement speed is great. Agree that it should also affect armors.

They have a HAM cost, why not a Speed cost?

I can't wait to see what the CB will bring!!!

(I am more and more confident on this... /cross_finger)

By Speed, I mean not the speed of weapon of course, but like the previous posters stated, the player's movement speed.

/agree, especially since I really really miss having suppresion fire. I had to drop all but but ranged support 1 when I got up to master pistoleer. To bad I lost 2 more efective specials in marksman then I gained in pistoleer. I'm a ranger. With traps, and the use of suppresion fire as well as as warning shot, I could do awesome crowd control in PvE. But loosing those, and not gaining anything even as useful in Pistoleer really hampered me. Sad that a novice level profession has more useful specials then an elite one.

How I understand the change, the speed at which you run in combat or always not clear there, will depend on the size of the weapon you carry. So for example a pistoleer will be fast running, a rifleman and pikeman will be slow. But really we should only be the second fastest Rand. The TK should be the fastest, considering they don't carry any weapons at all. Even a VK is smaller then most pistols. But that new Razor Knuckler is huge.

I am hoping the whole combat rebalance makes the whole game more interesting. Buffs won't be as big, HAM effects will be changed....

May even be worth my time to pick BH back up. I was MBH, and could mayabe kill 2-3 Stormies (no buff). Now, I'm master Pistoleer, and can wipe out a whole platoon (no buff).
