This might seem a little odd to you, but this is what I am seeing...

I have a nice FWG thats 41-177 @ 2.1, so its say on the upperside of average DPS...well, when I rush into battle I seem to do way more damage with a Roll Shot (sometimes over 400) then with a Body Shot 2. The bonus to the body shot is the directed damage pool of course, but when on multi-person raids, and I am feeling a little selfish I use the Roll Shot and I get way more EXP because of the increased damage output...

Is this just me getting this? or is the damage actually in favor for the Roll Shot across the board? *shurg*

I have noticed the samething rollshot, popshot and covershotall do more damage on average then bodyshot 2 but since BS2 is focused I still end up using it more.

Diveshot, Kipupshot, and Rollshot all do more damage than BodyShot2, but they aren't targetted to a pool, and I *think* they cost more HAM.

Yep, I've noticed it too. The roll shot's can hit any of the particular pools, while Bodyshot2 is directed at one pool. When I'm hunting, I'll use Bodyshot2 on things I need to take down very quickly like in multiple mobs, or a hight DPS mob that's beating someone senseless. I'll use Rollshot on mobs that I can take my time killing. I'll do more overall damage with Rollshotsince I've got to workthrough all three pools thus doing more damage, ergo making more xp than I would with Bodyshot2 targetting just one pool.

Pointblank shot 2 and Pointblank Area 2 do far more damage than Bodyshot 3. With Pointblank Area 2 I am hitting for 600-700, body shot 3 hits for 300ish.

Direct damage is delivered in two primary ways:
Targeted and Random pool.

All targeted pool shots from what I can tell do lower damage than equivalent random pool shots, because your chance of hitting body/action/mind is not equal percentage (I dont think), and obviously attacking one pool over random confers a "bonus".

Here are other factors that go into decision making on if a special is "better" or "worse" for a given situation.

1. action cost. From what I recall, both roll/kip etc. shots and point blank shots have a higher action cost, and both hit random HAM. I cannot do prolonged combat with high cost specials, I end up killing myself.

2. Time delay. Each special has a particular delay modifier..some might do slightly less damage but are executed faster..resulting in more damge over time. I suspect a number of specials deemed "redundant", might actually just be faster versions...

3. + To Hit modifer. Point blank single and area attacks have -35 to hit compared to other pistol styles, yet another trade-off. They are from the ranged support line (is why they have lower to hit bonus).

Other reasons to choose one over the other:

1. Scenario #1. You're fighting in PvP vs an opponent that just got headshot, and they have 100 mind left, but still have 1500 health. Do you do bodyshot and wear down his health or try a random, fast attack that might hit his mind and one shot him?

2. Scenario #2...obviously the opposite. A sliver of health left. Gamble with random or go for the sure kill?

I find except when I want to see a really high number, I use bodyshot3...but I'm starting to like stopping shot

Is there a way to edit messages? That should read:
Pont blank single 1 and point blank area 1 have lower range modifiers..PB2 and PBA2 are in the pistol line and dont have that issue.

Point blank shots may get some bonus damage since they are only usable close range...will have to test and see.
