Thread: I just found a Skill Mod item??
I looted an item from an NPC corpse last night, and it looked like a disc and it said something like, "Skill Mod +1 for one handed weapon"
Does anyone know what this item does?

When you examine a piece of armor some say Slots: 1 (fro example) I believe if you you drag that skill attachment and drop it on to the armor it attaches, and you get that skill increase.
.... i think
>> I have a mercenary bandolier with skill mod pistol speed 1.
Okay, so that seems a bit more intuitive.. It increases your pistol speed (by 1.0???) But what the heck does "One-handed weapon skill +1" do?
GPF.
It increases your +modifier for that ability by 1. As an example, if you found a pistol accuracy +1 it would add +1 on top of whatever +'s you already have. So someone with a +20 pistol accuracy who got used a +1 would then have +21 pistol accuracy.
When you reach +100 in an ability modifier you are then perfect at it. If you exceed 100 then you get bonuses. For example, when you learn a language like Bothan then you get a +100 in Bothan.
Just so everyone is aware:
There are 3 types of skill enhancement mod items.
#1 Disk looking item, resembles a bone plate. This is supposed to go in armor supposedly. BUT there is no such thing as socketed armor. It doestn exist. So these are currently gated (unusable).
#2 Film looking item, resembles a roll of film. This is dropped in socketed clothing which CAN be made by a tailor. Simply drop the enhancement device on the clothing (not dont use backpacks it simply puts it in the backpack) to add the item to the piece of clothing.
#3 Pre-Enhanced Items.
a.Tailors can make these for a very limited number of skills, by using BE made components.
b. Drops. Some mobs will drop various pieces of clothing that are pre-enhanced. I have several examples.
Now the big downer. NONE OF THEM WORK. You can put on any type of the above then look at your skill window. You will see that it now says something along the lines of:
Pistol Speed +30/+5
if you used a +5 skill enhance item.
Now leave that item on, and log off, then log back on.
You will not only lose the +, it will now be negative. Now take the item off. The negative will not go away. Don't worry about it though, its a dispaly bug. They really do NOTHING. This has been extensively tested and reported on in the Medical and BE boards.
Trust me save them, use them when they are fixed, dont waste your time with trying to get them to work right now.

Interesting. Can players make these? Or are they only found on monsters/NPC's? Also, the one I found says +1 to one-handed weapon skill. What does that mean? If doesn't sound like anything I remember seeing in my stats/skills.
