Depends on how good the res are on your server... But if you compile the best res in the game, DX bests FWG any day of the week, and twice on tuesday. They cant be compared because there is no comparison... Min damage is MUCH higher, max damage is higher... dmg type is acid for crying out loud... and it has light AP... DX2 pwns, enough said

So, why do the devs refuse to give the crafters good resources to make good Dx2's? It's been almost 2 months and still the Dx2's are crap. I have three 220+dmg fwg5's.. Scatter pistols are in the 230 range with good speed, acid and armor1. Yet, the Dx2's remain inferior to most if not all pistols except cdefs. Yeah, the damage is on par with a 200+dmg fwg5, but action cost is insane.

What resources appear is suppose to be random, that some resources have never appeared or have been in poor quality is just part of the game.

Also some servers such as Lowca have not had the resource shifts they were suppose to.

While the FWG5's can pull 200+ maximum damage, it's lower end damage sucks. I've yet to see a FWG5 crafted with better than 90 damage for the minimum. I'm toting around a 123-189 2.5 DX2. If I hit, you will feel it.

Some people prefer high maximum damage. Me, I prefer nice tight damage variance. It means I won't blow HAM on a good shot to have it hit for 200.

There is no best pistol. My scout blaster is better than my FWG in certain applications. What is the best pistol depends on the situation. I carry two pistols, some people carry 3,4,5.... different kinds for different applications.

P.S. I plan to add a DX2 to my inventory when I can find one, then I will carry 3 pistols at all times.

In a group, I much prefer my DX2. On my own, I prefer a scout blaster or FWG5. I tend to use much fewer specials in a group, so I can spray away with the DX2 without worrying about my HAM bar.

I carry 4 pistols: an FWG5, a Scout, a Tangler, and a DX2 I just picked up. I find that I'm using the DX2 more than the others now. However, they all have their uses.

I don't think some of you realize the importance of AR1 on the gun. It makes it hit much harder than the min-max damage would indicate. If I am fighting a NPCwith Armor on, I can do 2x as much damage with DX2. Also, the DX2 has a point blank modifier, so it does the most effective damage very close. If I am at Range against an unamrored foe, I will use my scout because of the lower HAM costs. That is untilI get novice BH this weekend, then it's scatter time far away, DX2 up close, with the scout available for HAM work.

Depends on what you are fighting really. I love them both with a slight edge to the FWG5 because of a nice damage slice I got. Anyway, I make a habit of always examining my targets. If they have low or no resistance to heat I use FWG5. If they have an armor rating and low or no resistance to acid then DX-2. The one time I didn't check, I tried to take out a single grand wrix. Armed with my FWG5, despite my combat window showing damage I did't make a dent into it's HAM. About to get incapped, I pistol whipped healed up and ranusing warning shot. Examined real quick, and read 100% resistant to heat and armor light. Pulled out DX-2 and finished the job.

So use both, and grab others like a tangle pistol(stun) etc etc......

What Jamor said is right. There is no single "best" pistol, there are just best pistols for specific situations - armored vs. unarmored, melee vs. ranged, opponent's resists - each of these drives your weapon choice. I generally carry 2 or 3 pistols at a time on my quick bar to adapt to the situation as it changes.
