Thread: Some more accuracy info

Someone posted some great accuracy info a while ago, and I forget exactly what he did and didn't figure out, so I'm sorry that some of this will be a re-hash of stuff we already know But anyway:

Accuracy has 3 data points:

- Point Blank modifier at 0 meters.
- Ideal range modifier at a distance based on your weapon.
- Max range modifier at 64 meters (or for a couple guns, 48 meters).

Based on my tests last night, looking at the numbers to the left of a non-moving target's HAM bars, your weapon's contribution to accuracy is a pair of discontinous lines with slopes defined by the center point and either the 0m or max accuracy point. Yep - just two straight lines scaling from the ideal to the two extremes.

Cool. Glad someone offically tested that.

Does anyone have a list of all the other accuracy modifiers that are possible? I don't own the Prima guide so I don't know if this stuff is common knowledge or not, but ...

Target kneeling and prone each shave off 15 from accuracy. So prone is -30.

Self kneeling and prone each add 15 to accuracy. So prone is +30

Self moving seems to range from -20 to -30 depending on speed. (Not sure if this really ranges over all values or it just jumps from -20 to -30 over a certain speed)

Target moving is probably the same.

Can anyoneenumerate any others or confirm these?

Great to see that confirmed, YetiIronFist! It's what my initial numbers seemed to indicate. This has some interesting implications for pistol selection. Based on the curves (actually slopes) I'm seeing, there are three pistol profiles:

#1 Low Accuracy Point Blank, High at Ideal, Trailing to Low at Max

Pistols in this category include FWG5, SB, DH17, and DL44 (Heat and Energy Weapons)

#2High Accuracy Point Blank, Lower Accuracy at Ideal, Trailing to Lowest at Max

The DX2 pistol falls into this category

#3 Highest Accuracy at Point Blank, with a linear decline through the Ideal range to Lowest at Max

This is the SR and the Tangle pistol profile.

An interesting question is "Is the DX2 Pistol broken, or is it supposed to be more inaccurate at it's 'ideal' range?" If the range modifier at 8m were reversed, the DX2 would match the pistols in group #1. What we have not is a pistol that starts out good at point blank, very rapidly becomes worse until its 'ideal' range, then continues to decline, but at a slower pace through it max range.

Based on my own incomplete weapon selection, here would be the weapons I would pick based on relative accuracy time DPS.(Adjusted for damage against AR0, but not accounting for resists)

[my apologies I keep accidentally posting and there's no edit]

0-2m DX2

2-5m FWG5

5-12m DL-44

12+m FWG5

This is with raw DPS of DX2=42, FWG5=61, DL-44=59.

Your mileage may vary.

Does this surprise anyone? Conversely, does this match everyone else's experience?

So, basically the DX2 are lilke Vibroknucklers that can also hit things at range? That's just sounds odd. I'm inclided to believe that the DX2's ideal range and it's range modifiers are bugged.

Yeti,

Nice! Great info, thanks, and thanks to the original accuracy poster

In game tonight I recorded the accuracy modifiers for what I believe are "normal" (no scopes at the very least, and I don't believe any had advanced barrels either, but not positive on that) smith crafted versions of all of the pistols.

There's some interesting info in there A couple look like they SHOULD be good if they ever get good damage (hopefully just a resource issue).

But anyway, I have max range, ideal range, and the accuracy modifers at 0, ideal, and max for all the pistols, and time permitting, I should be able to create a very nice graph showing them all.

But for the simplest of answers based on what tends to be worth using... DX2 for short range and FWG5 for longer range looks like the way to go.

Oh **** JAEGEN **** - I noticed while recording all of the info that the republic blaster has bugged accuracy / range info as well. We might want to get that noted so that assuming they ever fix the cert, we're not left waiting another month for them to fix that too.

It shows:

Point Blank: +0 (0 meters)
Ideal: -37 (0 meters)
Max: +0 (64 meters)

A lot like the bugged commando weapons, and a bit like the DX2 with a negative at ideal.

I'm still wondering what's going on with the -50 cap on the display though.

If -50 is actually the worst possible modifier, then weapon selection based on anything other than DPS become moot beyond a certain range (56m for my arsenal).

If, on the other hand, the accuracy monitor on the HUD is wrong we need to get it fixed so that we know just how bad our modifiers are going to be -- especially now that they are increasing them for moving targets, etc.

Jaegen 88 -- you may not have seen my previous request -- would you mind putting a question about the -50 accuracy modifier cap in your issues some week?
