Thread: Maybe not the right forum, but...

I'm a pistoleer (among other things) so I guess I have the right...

The question I have is...what good is armor? Am I missing something about armor? First off, I'm soloing some good things without any armor whatsoever, so I don't actually NEED it.

Second off, armor has such a huge hit to my HAM that I can't even do anything with it on (and indeed, I can't even fully wear my suit of composite!) The "better" (and when I say better I mean more expensive) the armor is, the worse it seems to do to you.

Third off, it seems like people in general don't use armor, and on the forums it seems like people don't like it either.

So my question is: Am I missing something about armor? Should I be using it? Should ANYBODY be using it? Is it bugged, or is there a specific class that uses it effectively?

The fact is that I'm asking because I would like to actually need it or use it, but there just doesn't seem to be any reason whatsoever, and even more, it's detrimental to use it. Can someone elucidate please?

I myself dont use it. But I know that armorsmiths can also expiriment on the ham costs. So you could get some armor that wouldnt be as effective, but the ham cost would be lower. It will still be a very noticeable hit though.

Armor like everything else is situational.

(1) Situation A: Your fighting creatures that you can kite, or they are dead before they can get to you. DONT WEAR ARMOR.

(2) Situation B: Your fighting creatures that have ranged attacks, and often stay back attacking from range. You are not able to kite them, or your specials do not keep them from hitting you. DO WEAR ARMOR.

(3) Situation C: Your fighting in a disorganzied mess, Large Pvp battle. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR ARMOR.

(4) Situation D: Your fighting in a duel. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR ARMOR.

Since 90% of experience grinding is situation A, you are better off keeping your armor off most of the time. Your obviously not going to choose creatures that give you alot of downtime to quickly gain experience. But in situations B,C, and D. Armor is more than helpful, it will save your life and allow you to kill your opponents before they can kill you. Here is why.

A large percentage of combatants dont use Armor Piercing Weapons, Like our DX2 or the Bounty Hunters Scatter gun. If they are not using the above weapons the armor you are wearing will cut their damage in half. Let me say that again IN HALF! Then after the armor cuts the damage in half, any resistances to the type of damage the weapon does will also be applied. This will lower their damage to abysmally low levels, and allow you to fight for a very long time.

Obviously your regen rate is shot, and you have to be careful about using specials in armor, but most melee's dont last very long, so your much better off using it.

One important note: Buy good armor and get it sliced by a master, so the ham costs are lowered. Buy some high end foods and drink so you can wear all of it, and keep your stats high.

Armor is for extreme situations. Since real pve challenge is non-existent, that means pvp.

For "real" pvp, you want high end chef food and / or spice, plus armor, plus a PSG. It's time to pull out all the stops.

Thanks for the info, guys! It was extremely helpful! (and now I don't feel so bad actually having spent money on armor :-P )

I think armor is so ugly in this game and does not really look like something from the Star Wars Universe...

That's why I don't wear it right now. But I don't PvP at the moment so it's no big deal.
