Thread: Profession skill Balance
Y'know, I think the Devs got the balancing all wrong. Pistoleers AS A CLASS are fairly even with the other classes, but the reason it appears we're overpowered, is because we have versatility. We have the ability to build so many hybrid characters with mix and matching between Smuggler and Bounty Hunter skills, while sharing all the bonuses, it really gives the impression thatPISTOLEERS areoverpowered, when in fact it's the individual hybrid character that is powerful due to all the different skills he/she possesses. In fact, back when knockdowns were in their original state, carbineers with BH were quite powerful, definitely equal toa MasterPistoleer/BH combination.
The path they're currently on, seems to make it so all the ranged weapons aremore or less the same as one another, but with different ranges. Everything that is remotely different or unique, gets nerfed. I reallywish that they'd realize this and either give other professions other optionsto create hybrids in, or remove our ability to create hybrids, rather than nerfing our core profession. The main problem is not our profession, but rather all the collective abilities we can have used in tandem with the main pistoleer trees.
Once disarm shot 2 and knockdown gets nerfed, Pistoleer becomes one really boring profession. What do we have? Fan Shot...higher damage, random pool. Stopping Shot...higher damage, random pool. Point Blank Shot...higher damage, random pool. Double Tap...higher damage, random pool. Pistol Whip 2...higher damage, random pool. And soon, Pistol Whip 1 will be...higher damage, random pool, 5 second incapacitation. Excellent, most ofour skills are exactly the same with the exception of damage, range and speed variations.
It's likely too late now, but what should have been done was to have other options of advancement for all the weapon types, similar to the way carbineers and pistoleers were able to get Bounty Hunter skills, and the improvementof specials for ALL core combat professions. Yes, I know I'm dreaming, but all this should have been done prior to release. If everyone had equal access to useful (yes, that means moves that actually work)specials, then there would be less complaining about one another. But instead, the easiest way out is the take away skills rather than to add.
