Thread: Pistol speed? Point conversion?

I just recently made novice pistoleer and am trying to make sense of the ability mods. I have read the FAQ and scanned through the other posts and still don't have an answer, just a confusing mathematical equation that doesn't really answer my question.

What do the weapon speed modifiers mean in terms of actual speed reduction? I just have novice pistoleer and ranged support 1-3 from the novice marksman tree. I read where someone says that a +10 speed modifier translates into a 0.1 speed reduction on the weapon you are using. Some seem to disagree. Are the speed modifiers from the ranged support on the novice marksman tree cumulative with those from pistoleer and thus applicable to the pistol?

Thanks

The FAQ explains how pistol speed translates, which is a percentage. +10% is 10% faster.

The faq answer is hard to understand without a calculator

So +33 speed mod is the same as getting a 33% speed powerup? So as a master all pistols should theoretically be 1.0 speed ?

Yeah. I am pretty sure the weapon speed skill vs. the actual rate of fire is percentage based. IE with a skill of 100 weapon speed you should fire twice is often (100%) as it would with a person with 0 weapon speed skill. A master pistoleer (with minimum boxes) winds up with 72 pistol speed skill points. Unless using a scout blaster, or a weapon sliced for speed a master pistoleer is probably going to be shooting a fraction slower than 1 shot per second. (With a 2.0 speed weapon, and 72 points of speed skill, you should fire about .86 rounds per second.)

(77 w/ master marksmanship, 127 with expert bounty hunter).
