As the title states, I'm a master pistoleer/master smuggler whose main focus is pvp. I'm pretty convinced that +33% speed is the way to go on my weapons, but despite my dabbling in secondary powerup stats, I don't really have any hard conclusions about the best one.The ones I've tried recentlyhave been +16% mind/ideal range/min damage.

Right now I'm leaning +16%mind as protecting that from my experience protecting this pool is the most important. My stat distribution is 900 health/900 action/1100 mind w/ the rest dumped into focus. I use doctor buffs all the time. Between these factors and a nice 83% acid protection helmet, I try to keep my mind bar protected at all costs as this is the bar that is the most common way for me to die in pvp.

Min damage is obviously a good choice, but I have a high damage slice on a very nice pre-nerf fwg5. In most of my fights/duels, I kill so quickly that damage output is rarely an issue. Where it IS an issue is a fully-buffed BH/master pistoleer that has lit my ass on fire with torso shot OR any other circumstance where my life is on the clock.

I just wanted to get everyone else's opinions and see if there is any performance data anyone has collected either way.

It depends on the weapon your using.

IF it aready has hi speed below about 1.4 then I would get hi damage powerups and if its slower then get the speed powerup.

If it has hi ham costs but has good damage and good speed then ham decrease powerups are the best choice.

It is already 1.4 spd, but there IS a noticable difference with the speed powerup, thus the reasons I use it.

Depends on the pistol I am using. If it's my scout, I will use damage power-ups (I sliced it for speed at max %). BUt with the repulic blaster or fwg 5 I tend to use ones that offer action cost reductions to help with the cost of the smuggler specials (with armor on and a republic blaster out, panic shot can cost 175 action easy unbuffed- am still tweaking by substats though so that will probably change)

Just some thoughts!

As a quick rule of thumb, you are better off using a max/min damage powerup if you are a Master unless you're planning on firing StoppingShot or have a slow pistol. At the low end of the tree, a speed powerup is almost always the best idea.

just get a fast weapon ... master pistoleer is already realy fast ....one of my guns is a .7 speed506 max damage kryat fwg5 and it will not spam shots any faster than some cheep 1.8 speed fwg5 .... ive tested it very well ... the only thing that matters is max damage .... min , damage wounds, range , HAM costs ,...all that stuff is worthless to a master pistoleer ... Max damage is everything

Thanks for the feeback. I have adjusted my powerup use accordingly.

I have done comparative math against this and with last ditch available to you do everything you can to get that weapon down to 1.0. That will produce the absolute best DPS. +74 speed last ditch shoots at almost exactly weapon speed (close enough to not matter).

I have done every variation of comparison with weapons and speed will always increase DPS more than damaeg slices. With last ditch at your disposal the cap really isn't a concern unless you get the weapon to 1.0 speed and can still improve it beyond that (in which case you go for dmg).

Get the weapon to as fast as possible and using last ditch always produces the best DPS. Slices dont always go your way, though, and if you cannot ge the weapon faster than 1.6 you will get better DPS with fanshot. 1.5 is the spot they get the same exact dps. I'll display a comparison for arguments sake below with an average top end DX2 (I say average for average across servers).

Pre-powerd and presliced dx2 stats: 102-160dmg, 2.5 delay.

I dont know much about powerups so but is it possible to get +33% speed +15% max dmg? If so we can calculate +15% max dmg on the speed example later.

Scenerio 1: all dmg
Scenerio 2: All speed

Scenerio 1: 35% dmg slice, gives us 138-216, 2.5 Put a 33%15% max min powerup on that and:
159-287, 2.5 delay

Fanshot is always better dps at 1.6 or greater delay. We'll take average dmg * 1.5 (because that's what the game does) then multiply that by 4.0 for fanshot, and multiply the delay by 2.4 then reduce by 74% and divide it into the total dmg calculated

(((min+max)/2)*1.5*specialDmgMod) / (weaponDelay*specialDelayMod*.26)
(multiplying by .26 is the equivilent of reducing the overall delay by 74%)

This gives us a DPS of: 857.69

Scenerio 2: All speed 35% speed slice, brings us to 1.6 speed and 33% speed brings us to 1.1 speed.
102-160, 1.1

plug into formula with Last Ditch as the move and we get dps: 1005.458
Just for comparison stopping shot dps is: 858.829

This was using fairly conservative numbers (i rounded up for dmg stuff and never rounded with the speed stuff, and even used 4.1 as the delay mod for LD even though I'm almost positive its 4.0 from all the other tests I've done).

For people with no last ditch, obviously from the above calculation stopping shot is still inferior to fanshot so the best thing to do I think would be geta speed slice for 35% and then use dmg powerup and use fanshot.

This would produce a DPS of 989.4mmm dmg slice and speed powerup would produce: 1062... mmm yummy

Possible the preferred result since Fanshot can be AE andLast ditch cannot. Unless you can have a powerup of 33%speed/15% max dmg. Then we would have to recalculate the whole thing.

So it would depend on playstyle but for pure dps, it looks like dmg slice, speed powerup and fanshot is the most effective way to go with only using 33% speed powerup, and 33%/15% max/min powerup for dmg.

The above example is kind of "ideal" since 1.6 is the minimum delay you can get before you start hitting the speed cap with fanshot and it gets there with a 35% speed slice. That' is also assuming you keep buying dx2 til you get a speed slice.

I personally think the best thing to do is get your weapon, speed slice it, and then use the powerup based on the situation. Anything 1.4 speed or faster last ditch is better dps, 1.5 they are exact same and anything 1.6 or slower alwys ue fanshot. If you can nail 1.6 exactly with the speed slice you're in the best shape.

That way you can slap a 33% speed (and 15% max dmg if possible) powerup when you dont want AE from fanshot, to max out your LD dps, or slap a 33%/15% max/min dmg powerup on to max out your fanshot DPS and wreak havoc on AE crowds.
